No, but you cant really question a guys speed who has game tape showing he can run. I don't think he is 4.4 fast and that's the only kind of speed that would help his stock.

I think confirming sub-4.7 would. No one expected him to run like Lamar Jackson or even Cam speeds, but sub-4.7 at his size would still be a good time and confirm that he can be a threat with his legs at the NFL level.

Well obviously Alabama had the best wide receiver in college. But it isn't like Ohio State was podunk U.  Do you think that the only reason that Alabama won was because of Smith and Jones hitting over 70% of his passes was just luck? He threw 41TDs and 4 ints all year. He dominated the game

Smith won the Heisman for a reason. Most thought a WR would never even be considered again until Smith did what he did. He had 12 catches for 215 yards and 3 TDs against OSU at halftime and he was WIDE open on most of them.

Devonte Smith is going to be a great NFL player right away.  His size gives people reservations but he flat out cant be covered.  If he goes to a team with a solid QB he will blow up.

He is basically Desean Jackson in his prime right out of the gate IMO.

Bama has the best roster.  Not just the best WR.  So good that the best WR in football wasn’t actually regarded as the best one Bama had on their roster.   He was hurt.   That is Bama all over the roster.

Largely, the way to beat Bama is to have the best player on the field be your QB.   Fields was done after that Clemson game.  He wasn’t in condition to give them game.

If he does fall you trade back into the back of the first and take him for that 5th year option

Why? You're giving up draft capital and having to pay him more when he'll just sit at least a year. That makes no sense when you can keep your picks, not pay him more to sit, and roll with one of the three on the roster while improving other positions of the team. Draft a QB next year. They did say this was a five year rebuild. There is no need to rush and draft a QB when the team isn't ready to compete for a title yet.

Another reason why we aren't tanking. We're taking a shot on somebody. Anybody.

I don't necessarily agree with that approach because I think that thought played a big role in us ending up with Teddy. We came to the conclusion that Cam's shoulder was shot and made the call to move on. There was a guy who had worked with Brady in the past and ran a very similar offense, what could go wrong? Well, evidently a lot.

Are you sure this isn't a smoke screen? It is that time of year where in the past everybody said never to trust what teams say. If it's not a smoke screen, it leads me to believe Tepper and the FO are not as smart as they want people to think.

At least a year sitting is a year learning. Or would you rather just waste a year of everyone else in hope you can draft 1 next year? And 5 year rookie contracts for QBs are massive.

He talking out his a**, NDSU runs a pro style drop back passing game, lazy analysis. However, with Lance's skill set they can DO MORE THAN TAHT.

Hell even LSU, ran the RPO, and option offense with Burrow. Hell, if he watched a Panther's game he'd see we did that with Teddy too.

Jones isn't a franchise QB, he's more of a system fit than Lance since he is limited athletically. And if we were to draft a guy like Jones, you may as well just keep TB who is better than Jones.

They run a pro style drop back passing game? Their one game this year was 30 passes. Of which he completed just 15. It was awful. They ran the ball 45 times.

The year before? Basically 300 throws to 600 rushes.

They past two years they’ve run the ball twice as much as they’ve thrown it.

I dont want Mac Jones but I don’t really want Trey Lance either based on what I’ve seen of his play from two years ago.

    • Easily. To be able to plug in a backup LT without much drop off from your starter? That could mean the difference between playoffs or sitting at home in January. Good/serviceable smart young and healthy LTs that won’t lose you a ball game at reasonable $$ don’t just come along every day. Picture next year… the team is scrappy and competitive, 4 and 3 record, second place in the South. Morale is good. devastating run game that Let’s our marginal defense get plenty of rest. We play the Bucs and win, going to 5 and 3, but we lose Ickey to a high ankle sprain. Atl loses that week and are now at 5 and 3 as well. There is no Ickey and no BC because we let him go… and we go in to Atl the next week for a battle of first in the south. Week after that is the Jets…. Now they lose both by 10 and 3, respectively, and fall to 5 and 5 going in to their bye week. Atl is at 7 and 3. Out of typical Panthers desperation, they try to rush Ickey back in to the lineup with a saints game coming up…  Back to good old Panthers football, always playing catchup. Another season at .500 and the fans sadly rejoice in mediocrity, when playoffs were in reach. This team always overestimates its ability to pick up quality o line depth in the draft or FA and it always blows up in their faces. Like Chuba, I see him as being part of the core that Dan is trying to build. Work on his contract now and see if we can come out with something mutually beneficial. I’d consider 3 yrs at $25m to be very fair.
    • it would be great to have "double trouble" again, I even had a T- shirt for Williams and Stewart and the double trouble logo, was a great time to be Panthers fan. We shall see...
    • Sounds like a plan. Those are the teams we should be mimicking! lol
