I think a deal along the lines of 4 years $48M with a significant amount guaranteed could be good for both sides. Maybe less total money than he wants but guarantees can outweigh that and since it's only 4 years he can cash in again while still in his prime at 30. A lot for us to pay but could be much worse and it's a shorter deal too so that helps alleviate the risk if his play drops off at some point in the future.

Nowhere close

16-18m a year is realistic

one of the top tackles in the league and expects to be paid as such

And what did Panther insider and NFL guru Joe Person say about 2 months ago?

30% chance Moton returns.

I called BS on him, and said they would tag him, as many of you did.

He is a master click baiter.

I am looking forward to seeing his article about how he saw this coming.  Seriously, he has been yanking folks around on here for years, and it is time to call him out.  Just for fun.

To be fair, Person wasn't the only one saying that. We had some other very reliable sources say the same thing.

Somewhere in there, someone's mind changed.

I suppose it could have been the addition of Fitterer but I don't have a solid enough grip on when things changed to be certain.

Did their mind change or was Person just wrong?

Can someone explain to me why players hate the tag?

You're guaranteed great money every time they do it.

You'd think it'd be an honor to get it.

Well nobody wants to sign long term right now any who with the low cap this year. So a tag is good in this instance for Moton.

    • MHS, You are missing Claudin Cherelus is a LB that's in the mix for the 4th spot. He's been here for 2 years and had a couple injuries. I mean he was a wavier claim and been here for evero system, just had bad luck when given a chance. Jon Rhat is the current leader mainly cause of he is the ST ace. But Id say, Cherelus has the same % to make the roster.  CB has the recent wavier claim of MJ Devonshire a 2024 7th rounder. He's got the good-great combine numbers but he's small size. Still he's in the mix for backup duties, in fact all the non-UDFA are wavier claims.  ______________________________________________________________   Dam shame about Clowney. I view this as a bad move. I feel clowny is well worth the 7.7, even as a backup. He played hard the whole year without help. I just feel he would have helped more than either DJ Johnson or Barno.  My only cope is he's 32 and at any point his miro-knee could force him to drop off a cliff performance-wise. I wanted to keep him around at least until the trade deadline and if no chance at playoff, flip him for a anything. NFL is a meat grinder, no love for locals....
    • Might as well. We need to get these rookies on the field and see if they can play ASAP.
    • This hate this part of football and then you have to get down to the 53 Man Roster 🙁
