I don't see that happening. Re-signing Kawann at this point is more probable.

Dunno man, I would definitely try.  Samuel is a difference maker, young and on the rise in a big way.  We should really offer a good contract and if he gets some nasty offer elsewhere than so be it.  I think it’s possible to resign him.

I don't see #1 money coming his way but you never know.

So in this cap environment, if you can afford to swallow a one-year, lump-sum payment, and delay a bigger decision, or at least exert some leverage to get a long-term deal done, it’s easy to see where the tag would be a nice option for a team like Green Bay (Aaron Jones), Carolina (Taylor Moton) or the Tampa Bay (Chris Godwin) to have. In fact, as I see it, these numbers are probably bargains for those guys.

To be fair, Person wasn't the only one saying that. We had some other very reliable sources say the same thing.

Somewhere in there, someone's mind changed.

I suppose it could have been the addition of Fitterer but I don't have a solid enough grip on when things changed to be certain.

But you have "insiders"....

....what the heck man ?!?

Can someone explain to me why players hate the tag?

You're guaranteed great money every time they do it.

You'd think it'd be an honor to get it.

It depends on the player and the situation. Some players don't mind it at all! But it's all about how they perceive their value--not monetarily per se, but in terms of how long they want to stay in a particular location and their importance to the team (some get in their feelings). Or, they may just want out at all costs due to other reasons, and the tag is an obstacle to that. And, lastly, with some it could just be a control issue and the principle of the matter.
