The Saints are $19M over the cap and in no way afford to mortgage the future by trading away the few picks they have and take on his checks notes 19 mil cap.

Where'd you get $19M? I see $57M over on Spotrac. $62M over on OTC

People had been talking about all the pass rushers Wilson was going to face in the NFC West with Watt having joined the Cardinals.

Throw in that he was already complaining about a lack of protection and getting out might have sounded like a pretty good idea.

Hey @Verge are you hearing anything about the prospects the Panthers might like? Jourdan Rodrigue reported they we really like Fields (feels like we would have to trade up to three to get him) or Lance (haven't heard any rumors about us connecting us to him)?

Obviously our love for Watson is well documented.

The only thing I had heard was Fields and Wilson.

Just for clarification, Zach not Russell.

(given the thread topic, I could see it being confusing)

Yes Zach lol

I am sure we made calls to the Seahawks, he just doesn't want to play here from what I understand.

Man it is pretty amazing how lathered up you get every time Verge posts something.  Pretty damn weird to be honest.

    • Hope Koch recovers (he’s stated numerous times he doesn’t like to be called “koochie”) soon. But he does not instill confidence in the crease. I don’t have any confidence in any of our goalies, healthy or not. Andersen when available gives us the best chance to win but he’s never available.    Team has to explore trade options soon.
    • Respectfully, I completely disagree. Last year we were:  32nd in Sacks. 32nd in Turnovers.  32nd in Rushing TDs allowed  29th in Scoring.  We were absolutely atrocious on defense last year and that was with a full stable of weapons in Derek Brown, Frankie Luvu and Brian Burns that played all 17 games.  Using yards per game as a metric to guage our success lacks the context that because our offense was so inept teams were not driving the length of the field, they were starting at their 40-50 yard line.  This year, our Defense ranks:  31st in Sacks. Tied for 19th in Turnovers  31st in Rushing TDs allowed 32nd in Scoring  His defense fails to get pressure, fails to turn the ball over and fails to stop the run. Three things you absolutely have to do to be successful in the NFL.  Denver meanwhile has not missed a beat without him.  If another team wants to hire him as a HC and the Panthers get two 3rds for it I'll wish him the best and pack his bags myself.
