I think one potential pathway for Jones is to take a top tackle at 8, e.g. Slater, and then hope Jones slides in the 1st round and trade up from our 2nd round pick to take him. Obviously this requires him to slide more than predicted which is the biggest gamble but it hasn't been unheard of for a qb to slide towards the end of the 1st when people had them mocked in the top 10, especially one with those question marks. You might jump up to pick 24 or so if he's there, give up our 2nd, 4th and next year's 2nd maybe. Resign Moton, get an interior lineman on day 3 and the line is looking a lot better. Jones probably doesn't last that long but I think if we're counting on him to turn around this franchise, we have to hope he does or the chances of him fulfilling that don't look as good.

All your novel opinion on MaC Jones is great and all but just go get a great Oline isn't a easy thing to do.. Just go get 2 great WR's a great TE and field a great defense as well right??

Reality at some point your QB should be able to cover for something.. Having a great Oline all the time for your QB to succeed isn't a realistic goal...

At least I did not accuse Winston of "rapping" women and suggest signing Sam Donaldson.  And if the saying does not fit the situation, don't use it.  Because a "stitch in time saves nine," right?  In other words, it makes no sense.

Building an offensive line is not that easy to do, but to mock others after your display of intellectual wizardry is probably not your best move here.  Let me take you to school a bit here--

First of all, an OL is not an impossible task.  It can be done.  Building the OL vs. giving away 3 first rounders and 2 defensive studs or CMC and eating the entire cap is probably not the best way to build anything.  Why does the mobile Russell Wilson want out of Seattle?  No OL.  Watson wants out of Houston for generally the same reason, but he did not throw his teammates under the bus.  So the argument, "Since there is no way in hell you can have a good OL, get a QB who can run for his life" is not sound. 

Yes, you can build a strong OL if you have 3 first rounders and some cap room and you do not need to address 2 holes on defense.  So don't hand me your assumptions and self-serving nonsense as facts- You draft a LT, put Daley at LG and draft or sign one later, you sign a RG and you re-sign Moton.  Did you know that most of the problems we had on the OL last year was due to the exploitation of 2 positions?  (LT and LG).  Fix that, add a TE, and yes, a smart, non mobile QB can be successful here.  Did you watch the Super Bowl or the 6 others Brady won?  Did you see Peyton and Eli win rings?  It can be done--if the qb is smart and can make quick decisions.  So please do not try to rap me with your intellect, Sam Donaldson.

That is also going to require giving up draft capital to get Jones. If we want Jones, we'd be better off trading down rather than expending more draft capital on moving back into the late 1st to get him. 

The anticipated QB rush in the draft(which may not actually happen) probably necessitates that we take him at 8 if he is "our guy." That is the reality. I hope we haven't decided he is "the guy." But if he is, they are better off taking him at 8 than trying to get cute about it and trade up or down.

I don't think Jacksonville is going to be very willing to give up Minshew considering how cheap his contract is. He's probably one of the best #2 QB's in the NFL.
