Sam Darnold..

Why do I keep thinking of Sam Donaldson.. I loved his reporting of the news but DAm..

How do I edit the topic?

You don’t, and we get to ridicule for it forever.

That’s just how the Internet works, man.

I realize that this is a panel of experts, but who decided that Mac Jones will not be a very good NFL QB?  I can name many with his skill set that have rings, mvps, and gold jackets.  77.4% completion, 42 TDs and 4 Ints, and 4500 yards in 13 games--the criticism?  He can't run and he had a good WR and good OL.

Then get him a good line.

Do not insult my intelligence by pretending to know squat.  You don't--nor do I.

And you title this, "The lesser of 2 evils" and give 5 options.  Nice.

I'm glad you felt the need to participate..lol

And I'm sorry if you needed to be so literal that you couldn't see I was just using the original saying as a way to explain the exercise...  The original saying isn't the lesser of 5 evils.

All your novel opinion on MaC Jones is great and all but just go get a great Oline isn't a easy thing to do.. Just go get 2 great WR's a great TE and field a great defense as well right??

Reality at some point your QB should be able to cover for something.. Having a great Oline all the time for your QB to succeed isn't a realistic goal...

Need I list all the college QB's with video game stats that didn't make it in the NFL?

Mac Jones is not a top tier QB prospect. He is a low ceiling and relatively low floor guy.

I wouldn't be against drafting him but, IMO, he's a 2nd round or later prospect. Taking him at 8 would be a fuging nightmare.

This is where people go off course.

None of these things bolded above are a skill set.  Those are statistics.

Skill set is things like ball velocity, arm strength, timing, anticipation, touch, accuracy, leadership, pocket presence, running, etc.

Jones has shown:  Touch, accuracy.  That's what we know of his skill set.  You know who else has those traits?  TB5.  Alex Smith.

Yes, many QB's with touch and accuracy have won rings.  But they also display many of the other traits I listed above.

    • They gave him franchise QB money. Sorry but if you don't earn it you can be embarrassed.   He's rich he can take it. Stop feeling sorry for people who can't live up to their contract. This isn't a sport to be soft. Daniels deserves to give back some of that money he stole if you ask me.
    • And it was coming off of a bye week. Perhaps he should vacation a bit in Germany in the off season, something certainly seemed to help him there.  No, really... He showed maturation and the possibility that he's turning a corner. That wasn't the NY Giants out there, but the back to back Super Bowl champions with the #3 defense in the league, with them coming off of a prime time loss. And that was a 9-1 team we just played literally down to the last second. Bryce played so well that maybe, maybe he wins over some nay-sayers. It's still early, though, but what a nice breath of fresh air that was. You can win quite a few games if that is your normal performance. It is obvious that we are still on the learning curve, though. But that was one helluva test he just took. Some of these QBs coming out of college just don't have a lot of games under their belts, especially in top end programs. They are perhaps just a year to two years behind center in games that matter before they move up. It can take them some time to hit their stride. We can still be cautious about our future and still celebrate a great game by the kid, though, and we should. He earned the laurels today, or had before they were snatched away at the last second.
