I agree.  Until it happens or doesn't I would support a moratorium on the whole thing.  It's boring. It's insulting.  The media is basically saying we are desperate for attention and relevance.  It's also insinuating we can't build a winning franchise without overpaying for other franchises players.

Boring?  This is the most exciting Offseason in a long time.  It is not insulting to be in the running for a guaranteed NFL Franchise QB.  Also the insinuations coming from the media are due to the owner saying he would be agressive to get Watson.

If its boring to keep talking about Watson, then lets stop talking about all draft prospects because we have heard everything a hundred times.  No more mocks, no more player evaluations, we can just talk about the weather or memories of past glory like in past offseasons.

You're leaving out the most important, and really only point to all of this:

1. Watson does not want to play in Houston anymore and may refuse to even suit up at all.

Why would the Panthers want to give up a tremendous amount of our assets and draft capital (too much) for someone who would pull this kind of stunt? And this would be for someone who would be the face of the franchise.

Obviously putting your college hate for Clemson ahead of your love for Panthers.

Oh yeah we all knew Houston would be changing their tune. Tepper is going to do anything to get him. Not saying I’m happy with giving up a lot but damn to draft anything but Lawrence this year to me is an unknown. So if ur giving up a lot to move up for an unknown why not give up more for a sure thing. Tepper is a smart business person and knows this!

McClain has been a step behind during this whole process

Obviously? I'm glad you can objectively determine what's going on inside my head.

There are many reasons why I don't want to trade for Watson but primarily because the Panthers would have to give up too much in return.

Ownership jettisoned the franchise QB who now looks like he may play for the Patriots again, because said franchise QB was washed up. Being that Cam may be again employed in the NFL and seems healthy his calculus was flawed.

He's pissed off much of the fanbase with the handling of the situation and his over simplification of the value of a franchise QB and is now flailing to fix his mistakes which could take a decade or more if they don't hit on a draft pick (50/50) or go all out and get a proven franchise QB to replace the one he foolishly dismissed like used toilet paper.

Could Cam have played another 5yrs? Obviously. Change just for the sake of change without direction is in itself ego driven foolishness. You can change everything around a franchise QB but you don't get rid of one if you have one.

Stupid

Now fix it!

I would have rather stuck with Cam than deal with the Bridgewater issue.  I think with the offense we had last year Cam would have done better than Bridgewater.  I am certain that given the opportunity to win a game (8 I believe) He would have won a least a half of them.

It was stupid when he did it and looks even more dumb as the fervent search for a QB goes on.

You had a franchise QB. Now your begging for others to do what you stupidily did. You released YOUR franchise QB for NOTHING. And now want to trade the world for one?!

Humble thyself Tepper, call free agent Cam Newton instead of hoping Houston will be foolish as you were.

You guys see this poo?  New mock from CBS Sports.  They have us making a draft day trade for Watson for, get this...

  • Panthers acquire QB Deshaun Watson, 2022 fourth-rounder from Texans for QB Teddy Bridgewater, No. 8, 2022 first-rounder, 2022 second-rounder, 2021 third-rounder, 2022 third-rounder

https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/news/2021-nfl-mock-draft-eagles-patriots-trade-up-for-qbs-panthers-get-deshaun-watson-bears-add-sam-darnold/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter

IDK if they're just making poo up....but if this is all its gonna take to land Watson, then WOW!  A first, Teddy B, 1 2nd and 2 3rds?  Seriously?

i understood the reasoning they released Cam but Bridgewater was not the answer.  We would have paid less to keep Cam and would have been able to move on from him had he not performed well.

It's hindsight but I never understood the logic of bringing in a player with a history of injury worse than Cam and expecting him to revive the Panthers.

If we somehow traded Bridgewater to SF and all our efforts to secure a QB failed.  I would sign Cam to a one year deal and focus on a replacement in 2022.

    • There's a real physical toll that playing in the NFL takes on the body.  Certain things just won't work the same, which will make some of those challenges painful and hard.  These folks are all rich and have cushy lives to return to.  I'm not saying Cam will leave first, but I can see it after a few episodes when old injuries flare up.  Or he decides he's done with it.
    • His size could work against him…BUT Cam is a weird duck.  He was wired differently.  I would bet on the young Cam that could barely get dressed after a loss….that dude wouldn’t have quit easily IMO.  But that dude doesn’t exist anymore.
    • i got attacked by a housecat once. pretty terrifying.  i was at a friends house and the cat jumped on my lap. it was calm for a minute but then it turned on it's back and bit my hand and sunk it's claws into my arm, all four of them so i grab the thing and pull the thing off my arm, dragging it's claws down my arm. i finally get the crazy thing off and throw it on the ground then it grabs my leg (fortunately i was wearing jeans that day) and the owner, who has just been sitting there in shock watching this happen to this point, grabs the thing and carries it downstairs and throws it outside.  supposedly that cat had never done anything like that before. i had been over there a lot and never had any problems with that cat. but something happened to it and it was never the same. went completely mental. they kept it outside after that. one week they went on vacation for a few days and apparently a stray chow came around and when they got home, the chow had the cat trapped under a car. no telling how long it had been there.  they chased off the chow and the cat ran off and they never saw it again. then that chow came back and hung around for a while and was terrorizing the other animals, including an old horse they had in a pasture. it killed at least one cat that i know of. they called animal control on it and they found it under one of their outbuildings. they figured the only thing they could do is shoot the thing. they shot it with a shot gun and it took one blast and then went running towards the guy who shot it and had to shoot it again.
