I'm of the opinion that the Panthers are a QB away from the playoffs. Going 0-8 in games decided by one score or less is so far below the median that you'd expect a rebound to maybe 4-4 in 2021, even with Teddy.

I'm not really concerned with the cap hit in this scenario.  Plus, it's possible to trade away some of that salary as well.  I've seen it negotiated before.  I mainly care about filling positions of glaring need with decent players instead of rookies or bottom feeders.  Trading CMC could plug several other holes with some higher draft picks.

      Why I Believe That We Will Trade Down

      The same reason people say there is less chance of a trade due to the nature of the class are ignoring the fact that's what keeps the door open for a trade. Everyone we have been staring at and debating at 8 are not that different then the guys in the 20s this year. It only takes 1 team to fool themselves into thinking that's not true or to let need take the wheel. It already happens here. Sanders, the rb, the TE, a possible OT or hell throw Walker into that pile. There are players good enough for someone to make a mistake but not good enough to worry about losing them in a trade back. Who knows. This draft is weird. It's going to be fun to see how that shakes down. With the quality NIL has brought to that level of play this could be the new normal.
