If either the Jets or Miami are willing to go to the mat for Watson we cant really outbid them.  Guess we will see.

As bad as things look for the Texans right now they are about to have a serious amount of resources to rebuild.

Both those teams have better, younger, cheaper QBs and better/more draft picks to offer. Our best chance at getting Deshaun was him refusing to play for Miami or NY

Yeah, honestly this isn't great news for us. I mean, it's completely expected since Miami was a pretty good team with shoddy QB play last year and NY is reportedly Watson's preferred destination, but both of those teams have far better trade bait to offer than we do.

3 first rounders keeps getting thrown around. I don't have a lot of faith in us drafting The Guy in that timeframe.

CMC was out for most of the season and we still managed 5 wins. The team is against tanking so we're not going to be like the Jets or Jags and positioned to get a top QB. And whether it's for Deshaun or a rookie it's set in stone that at LEAST one of our first rounders will be spent trying to get a quarterback. There's just a lot of uncertainty and things hurting our odds when it comes to drafting "The Guy" within the next three years, so I'd give away those picks in a heartbeat if it meant solving that dilemma.

You can build a team other ways besides the first round of the draft.

Not only that but the Panthers are a clear cut example of 1st rounders being overrated in a team dynamic alone. We hit on all of our first round picks, some of which are going into the HoF(Luke) or would have been a HoFer(Cam) and look how we turned out.

1st round picks cannot get it done alone and no team in the current era is getting it done without a QB. Those old but but but the Ravens and Tampa retorts are irrelevant anymore as that was a different NFL than todays NFL.

Yeah, this doesn’t bode well for us. Miami and the Jets can offer multiple 1’s this year and outbid us in terms of draft capital. Our best shot is if they want players as well. I wouldn’t hesitate to throw them Shaq, Jackson, and Teddy in a deal.

We know any potential trade will be expensive, but with the supposed inclusion of Miami and NY, they can really outbid us with more immediate draft capital. For us to pull it off, it will mean losing a whole lot of our foundation, as well as picks. I’m willing to pay that cost for a QB though. That’s just me.

    • As I said less than 10 minutes into the game, Boston looks nothing like we're used to seeing. Regardless, any curb-stomping of the Bruins is welcome.  The scorers all got the glory tonight, but all 6 D-men had excellent games. Across the board- Gost, Orlov, Chatty, Walker and, of course, Slavin & Burns.
    • I just tried a few mock draft simulators and this is the only way lol. Nothing else makes sense.
    • No, biggest weakness is pass rush, but I don't think there is a blue chip can't miss DE prospect to take at #1 this year, same as with QB.  But beyond that, moving forward, yea WR is a pretty damn big weakness. We have 1 game this season over 224 yards passing and just traded away our best WR (who wasn't going to re-sign here anyways).  That WR no longer on the team was also the only player we've had this year who had over 78 yards receiving in a game.  So again, yea, WR is one of our biggest weaknesses even right now, let alone moving into the future. As I just said in my other post, I love Legette, but he's not going to be a Top 5-10 WR type of guy, Top 15-20 I can see, I think he can be a good #1 WR or an elite #2. After that, what do we have for the future?  Thielen isn't part of it, sure as hell isn't going to be Mingo, and as much as we all like Coker, in no world is Coker as our #2 to Legette as the #1 going be considered as "having weapons" at WR, even with Brooks and Sanders. But put someone like T-Mac into that group, who I genuinely think is going to be a Top 5 WR in this league for a long time, and it changes things.  A Top 5 WR with Legette/Coker as the 2/3, along with Brooks and Sanders, has the potential to be one of the best set of offensive weapons in the league if they reach their potential.
