Yea, I'm not going to cheer this on.

Don't like an owner (especially one who trusted Marty Hurney) forcing GM's hands.

Definitely.

If you hired me to run your team, and then the first thing you did was start overriding my decisions, I'd likely tell you to kiss my ass and good luck searching for a new GM.

From what I've read about Fitterer, I don't necessarily think he rolls over for something like that either.

How much we would have to give up would be dependent on what other teams were also offering.

If the Jets want to be aggressive it would take an offer from us that most people here wouldn’t be comfortable with.

I’m thinking three first, Burns and Chinn.

Fair, but the Jets don’t have the star power to offer someone like Cmc. They may want two defensive players, but they probably didn’t think someone like Cmc would be in a package. CMC and picks should outweigh a lot of offers.

Had to sign up just to say this--been reading the Watson thread a while.

PLEASE disregard John McClain--Texans fans view him the exact same way as we see Newton or Person. They have no confidence in him and any sources he may have had with the Texans are probably long gone in the purges. The best Texans fans forum is actually ClutchFans, the Rockets forum (I know because I'm a Rockets fan).

BTW, I think we're underplaying Caserio's value of CMC. It's not unreasonable that he'd see him as a MUCH MUCH better Edelman, and we know how much NE values Edelman.

Only if they want him though.

One of the things that puts us at a bit of a disadvantage is that there are other teams out there who can offer a ready made starting quarterback in return.

We can't do that. Neither can we offer a high enough pick to guarantee one of the best quarterbacks available in the draft.

The Jets and Dolphins can do both.

Yeah, good point. I did read though the Miami is set on moving forward with Tua. As of now could Teddy and Darnold be a wash? By that I mean, we could send Teddy to Houston and that would be just as favorable as NYJ getting Darnold, no?

Neither is Cal McNair, and that's a big part of the problem.

Any scenario depending on the idea that Cal McNair will suddenly wise up has some risk.

Bingo.

McNair has proven to be entirely capable of unpredictable behaviour, and, he is in possession of F.U. money...

...anyone who completely discounts the possibility that McNair will call Deshaun's bluff and hold him to his contract is a dolt.

Not a big Darnold fan, but I'd still rate him significantly better than Bridgewater.

He at least has a chance to make a turn around like Ryan Tannehill did. Don't know that he will, but I do feel pretty comfortable saying that Bridgewater won't.

All the owners have F.U. money, but, at the end of the day, they all fold in these situations. It's only a matter of how long. Keeping a disgruntled QB isn't in their best interest. Anyone that doesn't understand this is naive!

Yeah, Darnold has to be rated higher than Teddy just on potential and contract alone.

Even if not offering him is a dealbreaker for the Texans?

Depends on the price. An elite pass rusher on a rookie contract is worth a LOT. I'll wager we could peddle him for much more than a first round draft pick at the moment. So if they want Burns, one of those firsts is off the table, IMO. He's worth more than a first.

    • Best to see Icky in the position we drafted him in to see if he continues making progress. All signs point to Canales/Morgan staying on board and so decisions on whether to move him elsewhere on the line will probably be done during the offseason. Personally, I'm more concerned about a more long-term answer at safety and Moton's spot. Love the guy but he's a FA after 2026 and he'll be 32 by then. Kinda has that sign of having to let a player walk one year too early.
    • All I am saying is IMO if we were going to rework or extend his deal I think it would have happened by now.   Just feels like they are going to bite the bullet and let it run its course
    • I mean me speaking honestly per normal- RT is not even on my radar for needing fixing....it sorta should be, but I feel its around 20s in "hey this need attention". Motown could have another 5 years of solid play leftd in his body and mind. I know something needs to done with his contract, its had money pushed back into the late years like three times now. He got like a 38 million cap number cause rhule, frittterererer and this past season Dan deferred money.  I think he's been "healthy" for most of his career and seems to work hard at being able to play. He's a good player to have on the team. I got no idea how this plays out.   We need to have friendly bet about Christs next contract- I say he gets 8million per and 40% guaranteed. If he gets below that, you are the true kungfu master- deal?
