As they may very well do, but again as a Panthers fan I would hope our GM would try to negotiate keeping Burns, who by the way has been talked about very little nationally in these conversations. Most talk has revolved around CMC and (3) 1st

Like If I offered YGM and they countered with Burns, maybe I add Donte to YGM in hopes they bite.

Again, nobody knows what they will ask or demand, but my post was only what I would prefer or hope to happen

Understand. And I'd love for our GM to be able to trade lesser value for greater value as well. We all would.

I'm just not so sure it's realistic.

Welp....we know what happens when Tepper makes it known he wants something.

He is aggressive, not many thought we really had a chance to land Rhule when most reports pointed to the Giants. Not many thought we really had a chance at Joe Brady either. Obviously it is a little different because another team is involved here. Guess we will see what happens.

Tepper doesn't have the ability to evaluate QBs, but neither does or current staff. So it's like the blind leading the blind. Our only hope is that our new GM can find an elite QB given our awful situation. The Panthers leadership put us here, and now they have to panic to dig us out. Throwing three 1st round picks at any team for a QB is pure panic mode, and it didn't have to be this way.

This.

When it came to the QB position, the best thing the Panthers could have done for 2020 was nothing at all.

Unfortunately, doing nothing is sometimes the hardest thing to do, especially if you're GM and your job is on the line.

I seriously doubt the Texans are going to trade Watson. If they did it would be to a team that outsmarted us in the trade deal, but don't worry they won't trade him at all. It would make no sense.

What do you mean it would make no sense? Watson has publicly stated he wants out, and wants nothing more to do with the Texans situation. That’s all the sense you need right there. That place is a dumpster fire, and I don’t think anybody blames him for wanting out.

I agree about Tepper.

The staff, not so much, especially given that we just got a new GM who's way more qualified than our last one was.

What I really hope to see is Tepper trusting his staff and not being another Jerry Jones.

LOL stop with the hyperbole and silliness. You don’t think we have the ability on our staff to successfully scout QBs? They took a swing and a miss at Teddy. poo happens. He looked perfectly suitable in his last stint with NO. And it’s not like there was a plethora of great QBs just itching to come to Charlotte last off season. They shot their shot on Teddy, and unfortunately they missed. It’s easy to play armchair GM after the fact.

This isn't after the fact. This isn't poop happens. I said at the time what we needed to do, not after the fact. The decision was idiotic at the time. Live on this forum. In the moment it was stupid.

Thats the thing, none of us really know at this point. Most talking heads think that (3) 1st and CMC is a serious offer the Texans could consider.

We've heard from our resident insider that a big part of that push came from Marty Hurney though.

With Marty gone and Fitterer on board, I'm not sure we can still say that.

Correct,  this is a little different because he can't just open up his checkbook and close the deal so im not ignoring that. But he is aggressive and will apply pressure.

It was fairly easy to see what would happen before the fact as well. Many people did exactly that

My hope lies in out new GM. I am just hoping that he knows how to land an amazing QB. It's our only hope.

Not John McClain though.

The template he laid out said otherwise, and McClain is one of the best Texan sources you can find.

    • Morgan has been advertising a trade on Ebay and Marketplace on FB.  That tells me they are not sold on Walker.  I think you are right--Emmanwori is their target, but after Morgan's rookie year as a GM and XL blabbing what he was told (I would assume that this is one of the reasons you never tell a prospect you will draft him) I am assuming that embarrassed Morgan to some degree--and it may have hurt his credibility.  Remember, he has to negotiate with players, agents, and GMs--so I am guessing that this year, he will be keeping it close to the vest.  I do not understand the Panthers skipping a pro day and then drafting a player when it was right down I 85.  It don't smell none to good.  I think it makes more sense that they have discounted both players.  About the Walker rumor--they have looked at him twice, I believe.  Fuel for the fire. His dad coached at Catawba as an assistant, Coastal Carolina, and got the head coach job at Catawba--a local boy, and the Panthers have a history of drafting local players recently (Ickey, Horn, for example).  If one or two people get on that train, it is often repeated and whipped into a rumor.  I think they could draft a WR (Golden is my guess).  To me, the empty safety spot is glaring--we did not sign blackmon and he remains unsigned.  Curious.  Morgan's comments about the WR room being good--curious.  And then there is Moton and his knee.   I have heard that we could draft an OT (if BPA) and possibly trade Moton--that was on a Panther podcast.  Did something happen in that development that caused the Panthers to change directions, skipping the UGA pro day?  Hmmmm. I will say this:  I think the Panthers really like Princely.  They would use the draft capital from trading back for the S to move up for the Edge in round 2. We shall see.  But Chris SImms pissed me off when he bashed Walker, but his points were valid--not his assessment.  His comment about overrated was to get clicks.
    • For sure I just think he is Uber talented and teams know it.   If he's there at 57 is a no brainer I just don't think it's going to be an option
    • Williams would be an Edge for us. We only have Wonnum and Clowney one more year.
