Turns out BB and his Patriots are not that great without the greatest QB of all time lining up behind center.

In Belicheck’s defense, that team was horrendous, Brady would not have changed that. Some have even said Brady leaving was more about Tom seeing the team was bad and wanted out. Jameis threw for 5k yards with that Tampa O (one of only four QBs to ever do it I believe) and the Bucs added Gronk, AB and Fournette.

at some point you have to say that it's much easier to replace CMC or Burns than it is to trade for a proven franchise caliber QB like Watson

I agree 100% with this statement, BUT, giving away our 2022 and 2023 first rounds picks as well makes it a lot harder to replace anyone. This still sounds too expensive for me.

CMC, yes.... Burns/Chinn - please no!

If we are giving up three first rounders in addition, we will have a real struggle surrounding Watson with talent on both sides.

Yeah, I think if we can make the move and keep Burns, Chinn, Brown, and DJ Moore we are coming out on the good.

CMC, Shaq, Donte, and YGM are some guys I could see them having interest in, and I am okay losing one or possibly two of them for Watson

Breaking News!

Tepper wants a franchise QB.

What NFL owner doesn't?

The question is not about what NFL owner wants a franchise QB.  The question is: How much is an NFL owner willing to spend on a franchise QB--how much is the owner willing to sacrifice? Is the owner willing to give up what essentially constitutes four or five first round picks (when you take into account that legit stars, CMC and Burns, were first rounders and are still young)? The answer has yet to be determined.

No disrespect to Gross-Matos, but if you're coming from the perspective of trading away a player like Deshaun Watson (while needing to replace a franchise legend like JJ Watt) and I offer you a rookie rather than a guy like Brian Burns in return, are you taking my offer seriously?

If it were just about any team other than the Texans, I'd say they were doing it right by showing a lack of interest in trading their QB.  It seems to have only intensified the rumor mill and raised the ante for Watkins in the media.

Yeah, drive up the price by claiming you don't have any intentions of trading him. In a normal scenario, absolutely the way I would handle it.

The problem is, the cat is already out of the bag that Watson has no desire to play there ever again. So, dragging ass is only going to result in fewer available suitors as the offseason(or perhaps season) progresses.

They should have capitalized off the Stafford trade feeding frenzy and struck while the market was red hot. I think they end up remaining stubborn so long that they miss out on the max haul they could get.

I am not the Texans, so I can't really answer that question. However as a Panthers fan I am just posting my opinions on my preferences. Do I believe they could have interest in YGM, most definitely. Looking back on last years draft, some view him as a top 15 pick in a re-draft. Obviously Burns would be more valuable, and obviously they would rather have Burns,  but that doesn't mean they would totally discredit the idea of YGM if it was negotiated between the teams.
