Arians almost cut Fournette right before playoffs

Lenny was on fire in playoffs but Arians almost released him.  Few weeks later Jones got injured and Lenny was on fire.

Bucs head coach Bruce Arians said the team nearly cut Leonard Fournette in December.

There was almost no Playoff Lenny (who then became Lombardi Lenny). Arians sat down with Fournette after he was a surprise inactive for Week 14 against the Vikings -- a game that saw Ronald Jones rush for 80 yards and a score -- and told the veteran to stop grumbling about his usage in Tampa's backfield. Arians told Fournette, "'Just see if you can hang in there to see what happens.' And he did, and I'm really proud of him." Arians' message was received, and Fournette became a crucial cog in the Bucs' championship run. That Arians was willing to part with Fournette is another sign that the team might not re-sign Lombardi Lenny this offseason.
