Middleton is the best whisky made from the Jameson distillery.

There isn't a Jameson that I'd rather have over Tullamore Dew.

Usquabach 15 yr old is one if the best $60 bottle you'll ever drink.

Best scotch I've had is the 25 year Bunnahabhain.

Most drinkers have never heard of it.

If ya can spare $300 on a bottle, it'll blow your mind what a good whisky can be.

Anybody that drinks Johnny Walker, feels they know good whisky, really are drinkers that haven't even begun to try good scotch.

Anybody that make such generalizations, feels as if they know everything, really don't know what they're talking about because it's all a matter of taste and preference.

you're right about one thing, it's all a matter of taste and preference.

I do know my whisky well enough that I know there are better whiskies to be had in every price point of the walker series.

It's the best selling Scotch in the world by a wide margin but I'll agree there's other good stuff out there as well.

are there different aged Tullamore Dew's?  Ive only had the standard which is all I really buy when I get whiskey, unless I buy a certain whiskey/bourbon for certain types of drinks.  Middleton I dont think was originally a Jameson production but I do know that Jameson bought the Middleton factory.  But yeah, Tullamore Dew for the price is almost unbeatable.  

 

edit:  i see they have a 10 and 12.  i cant recall ever seeing those though in the hundreds of liquor stores ive been in.

in the american market, they have 10 and 12 years blends, each with unique casks combinations. They also have a 10 year single malt that is aged in 4 different types of casks. So yummy.

Red Breast also makes excellent Irish whisky.

I've had Red Breast and Knappague Castle, both good but I still put the money Middleton. Have you had Green Spot? Brought both these back from Ireland last year. I will look for the single from Tullamore

You assume people buy it because of the ads which is pretty narrow minded. Most people buy it (myself included) because they like it. Does it really bother you so much for someone to like a popular brand? It's popular for a reason...oh yeah - it's just ads. Ads may get you to try it but it's not why people continually go back and keep buying it. Sheesh.

Bud Light is a very popular beer, I like that too. Sure there are others that are good but Bud Light is my "go to" beer while JWB or Chivas is my go to scotch. What's your problem with that? If you think something else is better then good for you...Can you grasp the idea that someone may have an opinion different than your own or is your exquisite tastes the only thing that counts? You're coming across like a real snob.

I not only am a whisky consumer myself, but I also have a lot of experience and knowledge in the industry. It's my job.

You assume I never had any other fine Irish whiskey or scotch. I've had plenty of whiskey/scotch, plenty of fine cigars, and plenty of Swedish snus. I have many vices. LOL. JWB is my old reliable brand that has never let me down. I like it and when I'm not feeling adventurous - which is most of the time. I'm the type of guy that when find something I like, I stick with it. It's just how I am. It's your assumption that "anyone who likes it, thinks they know good whiskey but has never had even tried anything good."

This may not be the popular point of view but I prefer blended over single malt. I've tried ALOT of different whiskey and some of it is very good but I find myself going back to my old reliable in the end. That's all I'm saying.

There is more blended scotches today than there has ever been.

The Usquabach that I mentioned earlier is a blended scotch that.most drinkers that have had it, prefer it over single malts.

It doesn't have the smokiness of JWB though.

Compass Box is another brand of blends that are just exceptional, with a wide range flavor. ...from the light to the heavy.

Johnny Walker does make good scotches, and they are the most successful with blended scotches. Like I said, there are better whiskies to

be had, in every style.

As soneone that works in the industry, I never pass up trying something new; you never know when you'll find something that can trump even "old reliable" - speaking from first hand experience.

tried a bottle of the tullamore dew, good stuff. probably better than jamesons though i still like it alot also
