DROTY, Votes 42.5 Young to 4.5 Chinn

Surprised this hasn't been made into a bigger deal.  Young was a force but didn't even have that huge of a year for a top pick, and he missed games.  Equaled the same amount of sacks as Burns' first year at 7.5 but don't forget Rivera shelved Burns' in his stupid rookie treatment strategy.

Young: 44 total (32 solo) tackles, 7.5 sacks, 4 ff (14 games)

For Perspective--Burns Year 1: 25 tackles, 7.5 sacks, 1 ff (15.5 games, but really only ~12 bc of Rivera)

Chinn: 117 total (68 solo) tackles, 2 ff, 2 tds, 1 int, 5 pds

I mean, sure safety/lb/db hybrids get more tackles, but yeesh, I really think Chinn got fleeced.

Young is an absolute force and definitely outshined Burns' rookie season in some respects, but Chinn made play after play this year.  To only get 4.5 votes (2nd in voting) doesn't give him the credit he deserves.

It's just a random rookie crown but I hope it makes him and the rest of these young guys come back with a vengeance next season.

Would love to see us become a fierce defensive strong team to compliment the playmakers on offense.  Let's just get the OL and QB right plz.

It's at least a debate who was more deserving but no way it should've been that lopsided. Chase Young was also playing alongside a defensive line full of 1st rounders. Chinn was playing with mostly scrubs in the backfield and between him and Burns, carried our defense to respectability. Bias aside, he would've gotten my vote.

    • Cutting edge analysis below https://www.nfl.com/news/daniel-jeremiah-s-top-50-2025-nfl-draft-prospect-rankings-4-0 You gotta remember, Daniel Jeremiah talks to the scouts and GMs..... Notable highlights: #1 Abdul Carter (Edge) #2 Travis Hunter (WR/CB) #3 Ashton Jeanty (RB) #4 Mason Graham (DT) #5:  Jalon Walker (LB) #6 Tyler Warren (TE) #7  Coltson Loveland (TE) #15 Nick Emannwori (S) #22 Mykel Williams (Edge) #32 Mason Taylor (TE--3 TEs in round 1????) WR rankings (oh my!!  This is going to piss some folks off--I don't think a slot WR--Egbuka--should be in the middle of round 1, personally) #16 Matthew Golden (told ya this a month ago!!--you mocked me, some scoffed) #17  Emeka Egbuka (the sleeper we have not talked about enough!) #18  Tetairoa McMillan (according to the NFL Network Path to the Draft Crew-Ross, Brooks, Charles-the comments may have hurt his stock among GMs--I do think it might be a bit overblown, but hey, he raised the red flag--nobody else.  I am sure he will explain his meaning to satisfy GMs) #33 Luther Burden III (he has dropped quite a bit) Noteable Edges NOT in top 50, which means they could be there in the second:  Jack Sawyer, Princely. and my super sleeper pick who could be there in round 3--Josaiah Stewart, Michigan. MHS PREDICTIONS: It sure looks like #5 Jalon Walker Edge will be the pick---Mykel Williams dropped to #22. Most of the players we draft on days 1 and 2 will have a first name that starts with the letter J.
    • I feel like all the guys i think they're going to take will be gone. Graham and walker plus Carter who has no chance. If that's the case I really hope someone wants to jump the saints and we can trade back. I would want Green if he didn't have the accusations
    • I think with walker you have a pretty stable and decent floor.   With some of the others the floor is lower but yeah the ceiling is the roof.   We just cant risk that as a franchise at this point
