After looking at Remmers protecting Mahomes, we owe Cam an apology

But that's the thing that they don't seem to be getting. Every single shred of any evidence indicates Watson wants to leave and badly. It's a franchise that let it's previous dipshit coach/GM trade away just about every thing of value in the draft. This is the opportunity to get the franchise back on track for rebuilding.

If they fug this up, they will be in the cellar of the NFL for a long, long time.

I agree with what you posted. That's why I was surprised Watson signed that huge extension prior to the 2020 season.  The bad front office moves were known before new deal.   As a 1st round pick in 2017, he'd be entering the last year of his deal this season and could walk at season's end unless he was franchised. I'd love to see him succeed elsewhere, but since he's only one year into his new contract I can see why Houston is unwilling (at the present time anyway) to trade him.

I am guessing he probably wanted to see if they could turn it around and then saw over the course of the year as the team fell apart. I think his ultimate decision to leave was him being resoundingly ignored when he offered the suggestions that he and some of his teammates had for the GM and coaching search.

It appears he has been trying to be bought in most of the time but eventually all the BS just got to be too much. I can't say I blame him. Had it been me, I probably would have just not signed the deal and become a free agent.

    • Yeah and he succeeded at an even higher level in LA with an even better surrounding cast. Goff is a guy that isn't really able to dramatically elevate players around him but he can make a good situation even better. He is capable of that. Some QB's aren't. I am not sure Dak is able to do that and he is in a similar "class" as Goff, IMO.
    • i think i could handle that for a year. beyond that....i don't know.  back where we lived, when we had a few inches of snow, it might have been a couple feet because we weren't getting out and doing anything. i remember times where power would go out for days on end. we had propane and electric heat, depending on the floor. basement (had a couple bedrooms and a living room and kitchen down there) and main floor had gas logs. main floor gas logs was enough to take care of the upstairs, so we could stay warm and cook on the grill when we needed. we had a well so that was always an issue when the power went out. had to make sure tubs were filled with water for the toilets and we had gallons of water for drinking and cooking available. always had to make sure we were ready. that wasn't always the case. we had a couple moments where we were going through propane quickly and because we were dealing with the worst propane company in the world (amerigas) they wouldn't get out to put gas in our 900 gallon tank. made for some nerve racking moments.  i know y'all were probably a lot more able to handle that kind of thing, but after the little bit (comparatively) that we got here i just have no desire to get trapped again. maybe for a day or two a year get snowed in and i'm good.
    • I think he is just drawing a DC to them line and that's about as far as his thought process went. It makes almost no sense outside of that. Also, it doesn't make sense for Pittsburgh or Seattle at this juncture either.  I think our "veteran" pool is basically gonna be the Dalton/Flacco tier or the "pick your poison" options of young busts(Jones/Z. Wilson) or wild, TO prone gunslingers(Darnold/Winston/etc). We have the option to pursue I genuinely believe(depending on the way the rest of this season goes), we either draft a QB in the top 10 or resign Dalton. Outlier third option on taking one of the wild gunslingers that Dave feels like he can work with.
