In all honesty, I feel sorry for defenses now. You can’t do crap. However, that was tipped way before any hold. This is why I hate having Brady in the freaking SB.

Well, I started paying more attention to officiating in "big" games ever since Superbowl 50 and how the NFL hosed us, and the trends are easy to recognize.  When they have a team they prefer to win, they set the tone early and often with calls that affect how the teams feel they can play for the rest of the game...  for example, they've already called unnecessary roughness on the Chiefs and multiple def holding calls so far, about halfway through the 2nd qtr.  So, they set the precedent early that the Bucs can play physically, but the Chiefs can't.

They also find ways to call penalties that give their favored team second chances and favorable situations.  For us, in SB50, it often came after converting a big 3rd down which then gave the Broncos favorable situations where Miller and Ware could rush with their ears pinned back.  Just like they called the penalty to make the Chiefs punt from their own end zone a minute ago after making a great play on the first punt...  and then again, how they turned a FG into a TD not long after that.
