Has anyone had this "prunnet.exe" virus on their PC?

Same here so I copied the URL of the file I wanted to download, into a download manager prog (Download Accelerator Plus) and I was able to download both HijackThis and Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware. Ran both and they claim the virus was cleaned but I still can't get back on the net and I'm not sure the virus is totally gone. When I get motivated, I'll do the data backup/scan to an external drive and then start from scratch again.

I'm back up and running now. And all my files (not programs, but pics and music and such) were saved, thank god.

So might be a silly question about this but don't really know. Why is it Mac's tend to not get any if not some virus's that windows based computers do? And also who has the time to make a virus like this? I'd punch them in the face.

I found this website surfing through trying to find a fix for this virus, as I could not go to most any anti-virus website. I hope this helps anyone within this forum or stumbles across it the same way I did.

I got this virus today and finally got it taken out around 5 hours later. It is a relatively new virus (about 1-2 months old as of Jan. 2009), so if you do not have updated definitions no scanner will catch it. Here is a file I uploaded of malwarebytes http://rapidshare.com/files/179226641/mbam-setup.exe.html anti-virus software. This link will only allow 10 downloads and/or will expire in 90 days. If for some reason it is already expired when you come across it, use another computer to get the program from malwarebytes.org It was updated on Dec. 3rd, so the definitions within should/will be new enough to get rid of it. You will NOT be able to update your definitions, so a if this does not find it, that does not mean this software is crap. If you can get updated definitions installed manually, you may find your fix that way.

Do NOT run this in windows normally. Boot to safe mode by hitting F8 while your computer is booting up. Select safe mode (do not choose with networking or command prompt). Then install the program and run it. Mine took about 25 minutes to run and found roughly 19 variants of this virus.

Once you are clean, make sure you update your Java software and turn on all your Windows Updates, Windows Firewall, and Windows Anti-virus features this virus turned off. Make sure you always keep Windows up-to-date, I know it seems annoying to constantly have to do it, but it will keep you from having to spend a whole Saturday getting your computer up so you can get on nfl.com on Sunday.

Do you all know what you did or where you had to go to get it? I've never had a virus on my computer so I want to make sure I stay away.
