Has anyone had this "prunnet.exe" virus on their PC?

I ended up trying to install DivX again last night, and while downloading the program, my PC started to slow down.

Come to find out it was the virus running and installing.

It ended up installing something would create pop-ups and such. Simple and annoying... just get rid of it...

But, then I find out it blocks all "antivirus" websites... Not good there. But, no fear, I have antivirus on my PC, so I can just do a scan.

WRONG! It make the programs "connection" to it's database (internal) fail, so it can't scan and it stops with a "failed connection".

So, I ended up having to just redo my whole computer being I tried for 3 hours to get rid of this thing with no luck.

Have any of you seen/heard/know anyone that was hit with this thing?

I saw on one of my many searched that this virus was added to a virus database on the 21st of this month.

I hope you all are updated on your antivirus software. (yeah yeah, and all you Mac users can just post this ":p" and leave. LOL)

did you try going into safe mode, and deleting it from the registry?

yup.

my virus scanner found it as it popped up, gave me the name of 2 files.... and I couldn't find them on my PC anymore (but when that happens I right them down)

I did the search and read a few sites saying the same thing.. remove the file, and remove it from the registry in safe mode and all that. but the PC shut down.. crashed... then did it 3 more time on start up.

Once I got it stable enough to search again for removal tools, I couldn't get to any of the sites... not even in safe mode with network connections.

I had a registry watch on there too... and ti infected all my processes running, because when it popped up stating there was a requested change... it was a list of all the process running on my PC. :(

I got a bug like that recently. It just seemed to block me every way I tried to go to fix it.

Yup.

I reinstalled and YAY for the EMachine Backup. I didd't lose any of my pictures or music or movies.

Now... the programs and such... I have to spend hours reinstalling.

Oh well... fresh install I guess.

I'm in the same boat Alv....got it along with gadcom virus. I'm still screwed. Seems to be cleaned but I can't get my wireless to connect at all. Windows doesn't even see my router of my neighbors.

I'm about at the point of backing up to an external HD, running a scan on those files, wiping the partition off the HD and starting from scratch.

"BLOCKED ALL SITES!?!?"

You couldn't do a Google Search?

it pulled up the search results just fine.

but, it would not allow downloads of updates od database files, or other anti virus/spyware removal programs and such from the site.

I could get to the huddle and google and NFL.com but it blocked such things as symantec.com and avg.com and bleepingcomputer.com. etc.

Same here so I copied the URL of the file I wanted to download, into a download manager prog (Download Accelerator Plus) and I was able to download both HijackThis and Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware. Ran both and they claim the virus was cleaned but I still can't get back on the net and I'm not sure the virus is totally gone. When I get motivated, I'll do the data backup/scan to an external drive and then start from scratch again.

    • I don't really like the phrase, "moral victory". I get what's meant by it, but does that mean that if you do the opposite (play poorly but win) it's an immoral victory? 🤔
    • I blame Evero because he is overrated. Vance Joseph created the defense in Denver that he took credit for. Wilks ran the ball down his throat and Darnold had a 103.8 rtg.  Last year we were decent in yards allowed, and horrible in everything else. Only reason? We kept giving up good field position.  He's had his choice of players to bring in since his scheme is so "complicated." Maybe he should stop trying to be so fancy like running Cover 4 on 3rd and 1 earlier and focus on fundamentals like tackling. These years of Eric Washington, Phil Snow, and Evero must have gotten you confused on what a real defense looked like. Go back and watch the McDermott and Wilks years- this dude is sofT.
    • I tried to make it a point in the opening post that I don't think the offense is a finished product. I think we still need more talent at WR, better play calling, catch more consistently, elimate ridiculous penalties,  and be more consistency in scoring points. I'm just saying, they look markedly better than last year imo. They have scored 20 or more in 6 games and 30 or more in 2 games. And that's particularly notable considering they only mustered 10 points and 3 points in first 2 games of this year and they got blanked on 0 points two games in a row to wrap up last season . I'd say that's a market improvement.  I'm not crowning them and saying we have a top 10 offense or anything.  I'm comparing them to themselves in recent history.
