Schedule Update: Next few weeks are Key

Just looked at the standings and hovering around .500 will land you the #6 spot in the East. If we are interested in making the playoffs this year - the next few weeks are going to be key. We close out the remainder of the 1st half of the schedule with a West Coast trip. Stacking up the W's now will be important because Feb 19th-26th is going to be brutal...

I hope you’re right.  We got handled by Memphis the first time without Morant.  Can’t remember if Cody played or not, IIRC we let 3’s do us in that night.  Plus Melo didn’t start.

Zeller didn't play
Monk didn't play
we went 29% from 3pt range
they went 36% from 3pt range
they shot almost 50% overall

Lamelo went 2/7 and was coming off the bench..
Terry was 1/11 from the field - YIKES!!
Graham went 1/10 from the field - YIKES!!
Miles went 1/5 from the field..
Tyus Jones averages 8pts but went off for 25 that night..
Kyle Anderson averages 12pts but went off for 25 that night..

Those numbers are horrible and almost impossible of repeating.. not saying we are a sure lock to win, but ya know..

beating Memphis tonight is a very winnable game.. followed by a horrid Minny team.. if we can string a few more before our WC trip - we could be sitting pretty

Zeller's presence has really improved the team a lot... weird saying that 🤔

KAT might be back for game. His conditioning is probably a work in progress, but if right will be hard to stop.  Good thing is, Hayward has done well against Minnesota in the past.

I see us 1-5 on west coast trip with only victory being the Wolves.  Sacramento is a good shooting team.  Jazz, Suns, Warriors, and Blazers could be ugly.  4 of 6 are top 12 in 3pt %. Hope I am wrong.  West coast trips often define an east coast team.  Grab 2 or 3 and that will make believers of a lot of people. Boston just took a very similar trip and went 2-3 and people are down on them.  Different expectations, but Hornets can solidify their top 8/play in target with good trip.

    • Him and Sanders are the only QBs I would consider in the first round. I won’t be upset if we take Sanders, unlike some people on the board. Both have potential to be really good NFL QBs if the teams can develop them.  But as we have seen teams are not willing or are unable to now properly develop rookie QBs.
    • I remember the last time we had a Cam at QB in Charlotte
    • Because Young is so historically bad that it just skews too far outside the normal deviations that perspective is easily lost. That or they just don't want to believe it.  The struggles last year would have been more about the infighting and poor roster building or idiot owner's hiring practices than with Stroud. He wouldn't have been as good but he wouldn't have been ruined here and the pressure was not Carr-esk if you take out the Young created portion from his playing style.  Dude is a young guy on a team coached by a Defensive guy building a good D but not building up the O in year 2 of his HC 1st time gig. Seems familiar... Go look at his output this year and not just some crappy Thursday night implosion game, I would take that in a second and never ever look back every time without a shred of doubt while eating 4 of those games a year with a giant smile on my face.
