Weren't the Jets among the teams bidding for Stafford?  Looks like they are not sticking with Darnold.

Maybe but that doesn't mean they'd necessarily want a rookie QB. Maybe they see Darnold and these rookies in a similar light -- young guys who have potential but are still big question marks. Stafford is a legit proven upper echelon franchise QB. Just because they were in on Stafford doesn't mean they're all in on trying to find a new QB. My guess is they'll take Fields and trade Darnold but nobody really has any clue. I think there's definitely a possibility they don't go QB in this draft.

Tua and Darnold are both worth replacing so I assume they will pick QBs until they prove otherwise. Who knows, bad teams make bad decisions. I sure hope we luck into a drafted QB this year. Thr other options are bleak as hell. I don't even think Goff is safe, it looked like a contract dump to me over a talent acquisition.

Both teams have indicated that they like their current QB position.   I could see where you think Darnold is replaceable but I don't get the Tua comment.  He was a rookie and made a lot of rookie mistakes.  Because he didn't light it up like Hebert did doesn't mean he's done growing.

I'd take Tua off their hands.  I think he would be nice in our offense but I think they stick with him and are using the "we're going to draft a QB" as a way to get a team to trade up with them and get more picks.

People fell in love with Tua in college. He has looked bad, not just rookie bad. I get it, people want him to do well. Maybe he can turn it around but I have seen what I expect to see out of him at the NFL level. So far, Miami made a mistake on a guy who peeked in college. I didn't want Tua last year and I want him less this year.

They both have said that about their current QBs but until they don't, both can upgrade over what they have, at least on paper.

After Lawrence any of these QBs could be better than or worse than Tua and Darnold.   Both are on rookie contracts so moving them would be pretty easy.

I know Tua looked bad but he also has some pretty decent games.   I think he should have spent the season behind Fitzpatrick.

The thing about rookies that haven't played yet is we don't know they are not it. There are no locks but I will take not knowing yet over we should have known better.

I really have noting to say positive about Tua, he looks ruined. It sucks but it was a valid concern and the fact he did play last year and couldn't get in front of Fitz is also a huge let down. Hard to sit a player when you are taking them top 5 but Miami took a chance and so far it looks to not be working out.

I could see the OP scenario playing out, as almost one extreme.  The major assumption is not that the Jets and Dolphins do not pick QBs, it is that there will be no movement in the top 7 picks.

The opposite extreme is the belief that 10 QBs will be taken in the first 7 picks.

But, I have to think that the teams with the top 7 picks will not be the teams making the top 7 picks.  Somebody is going to put a full blitz on moving up, maybe more than one somebody.  Particularly about the time the Dolphins pick is announced.
