What If?

This is not as unlikely as many may think.   I would love our options if it does pan out like this.

How would you feel if after Jacksonville takes Lawrence.

The Jets do not take a QB and stick with Darnold (which has been mentioned in the press)

Miami passes on a QB too and stick with Tua.  Same thing here many have said they will stick with Tua

Atlanta will take Fields or Wilson

Cincinnati  take Sewell

Philly passes on a QB

Lions have Goff

That leave Fields or Wilson, and Lance.

Tua and Darnold are both worth replacing so I assume they will pick QBs until they prove otherwise. Who knows, bad teams make bad decisions. I sure hope we luck into a drafted QB this year. Thr other options are bleak as hell. I don't even think Goff is safe, it looked like a contract dump to me over a talent acquisition.

In this market Goff is probably way too talented to dump. Could they end up trying to move him elsewhere? Maybe

Maybe, don't know who wants to buy tho.

It looked like their GM saw him as the answer or it was a player dump for draft capital. The second is ruthless but effective and the first is extremely suspect. If they did a cash dump and can turn around and get another pick, that GM has impressed me for sure. With his ties I suspect they will give him a shot.

What if Goff and their 1sts was part of a deal for Watson. Lol it's crazy season

I would think at least 5-6 teams would have interest, if not more.

Goff may be average or better(or worse) but even those QB's are getting to be rare in the current NFL.

I just don't get it. People paying top dollar for known commodities so the seller can go replace them with a better option. Just bananas. At least the Rams are making a legit attempt at a run, the proposed deals all have us being privileged to treadwater at a premium. At this point, just keep the 8th and see what the draft brings.

I think finally all 32 teams understand that if you don't get better at QB, you aren't going to get better as a franchise.

Plus you also have more openings at QB as former elite QB's retire and get close to retirement.

It has made this offseason(and it hasn't even really officially started yet!) extremely exciting.

If you don't get good at QB there is no hope. Better is just staff covering their asses or doing something because they can't do something good. That is very shortsighted, risky and I'm not very forgiving of their desperations.

You are right, at least it is exciting. It would be a lot more enjoyable if we had a good QB and could sit back and enjoy the show. At this rate, we are getting a 2nd for Teddy yet?

    • Ha-ha, I bet that went through everyone's mind.  Admittedly I don't read all the comments in a thread before I make a post. Great minds think alike!
    • Cam was hitting his stride as a QB in 2017/2018.     This is why I think stats like completion percentage are overrated. As long as a QB is clutch and makes the throws to win the game the rest doesn’t really matter. What good is a check down stat padder if they’re a choker.  Until Norv Turner (and briefly Chud) got here we put Cam in high pressure throwing situations all the time. We also ran the ball on first down more than most teams in the NFL in the Ron era. Coupled with shitty WRs, all that is expressed in his stats. I also assume Cam took the ball in his hands on many occasions rather than trust Funchess to catch the ball.    It was also never Cams job to play the game like someone else. His presence on the field dictated the game in a way that is rarely seen.  He showed he could play the dink and dunk game just before TJ Watt. That didn’t suddenly make him better than his earlier seasons. He just got put in a legit under center  passing game again for first time since his rookie year with Chud.    Ron took the quickest path to success and abused the RPO because his ass was about to get fired.    Cam never got the credit for being the cerebral player that he was. I just think when you are legitimately a human Superman, sometimes the best play is having the ball in your hands. He was a better passer than Delhomme was.
    • I don't think Canales has any problem benching Bryce or moving on if Bryce doesn't come out playing like the end of last year.  It's year 3 no more excuses for Bryce
