How close did the Panthers come to getting Stafford? Dang close.

Rhule is a good coach, players like playing for him. That’s a fact. Will he take us to the promised land? Who knows, that’s yet to be determined.

Stafford is a very good player. He would have been great here. I was just nervous about giving up a lot of draft capital for him.

I know the world is crazy right now, and people can just say things, whether grounded in truth or not. However, where is your evidence for this? Rhule has had one free agency period during a pandemic. The biggest acquisition (Anderson) has said he loves it in the Panthers organization. Your comment is just buffoonery.

Anderson is/was a possession receiver who is product of Rhule from college, so duh he's going to love the panthers & Rhule. Meanwhile our top two receivers are both in the rumor mill for wanting to move on from the team. Is that Rhule/Brady, Teddy or simply their wallet we will see. And this is just the receiver position.

Since when is Moore rumored to be wanting to leave? Let's see those sources.

Yeah, anyone with half a brain can literally see that. The only "Stafford Sucks" discussions come from fans who don't know their ass from a hole in the ground.

Football guys don't talk about Matt Stafford as not being a very good QB. It is plainly obvious that he is.

I will say that these "good" or "dodged a bullet" threads probably aren't going to age well. I rarely like to be the "told you so guy" when it is bad for the Panthers but I won't be shy about reminding these Huddlers when Stafford is successful in LA. Especially if we whiff on a QB this offseason.

Make no mistake, it is not a celebration to miss out on an answer for the most important position in football. I am not going to celebrate "missing out" on Watson for whatever giant haul he commands.

feels like a poor attempt to reframe the narrative surrounding Stafford, so let's make sure I get this post in so you can't go bumping this thread

I and most everyone here think Matthew Stafford will have a great season, probably a couple even

But the panthers aren't in need of a guy to give them a "couple good seasons," nor is it good football sense to blow a top 10 pick on a guy with that being the return

The Rams are desperate to capitalize on their window

Were still building the house

The move makes sense for the Rams. They are a playoff team and Stafford is the missing piece. We were hoping Stafford makes us a playoff team. Not the same thing at all.

I do not like how rushed this felt. We would give up our chance at options to lock in with Stafford way before getting into free agency or time for the new GM to get his feet under him. No thank you.

Since we are reframing narratives, Stafford  is likely to have more than a "couple" of great seasons.

I agree we are still building but having a solid foundation is just as important as having a roof. A franchise without an elite QB is like building a house without a roof.

The rest of the house isn't going to last long without that roof.

Oh okay, so that's what this is about

You're looking at tom Brady and thinking he's going to play that long, but the truth he isn't going to

Which means you're talking about using a top 10 pick on a window player whose already starting to find himself on the injury report for this or that and then this, and that too

Well ran teams don't make that kind of desperation play

He is 33, not 38.

Take a look at the league for the past five years. Anything stand out in the top 10 passers in the NFL? Yeah, it is a lot of guys in their late 30's. Elite QB's are staying around longer because the NFL doesn't let them get ground to mush like they did in the 70's, 80's and 90's.

I mean, unless you are running QB like Cam...then it is fine, apparently.

Well ran teams also don't look like the Carolina Panthers, so let's be clear about that. Well ran teams and winning teams already know that you need an elite QB to succeed.
