Stafford didn’t want to come to the Panthers

Please elaborate then on how giving up the #8 overall pick + another asset (draft pick or player) for a 33-year old, non-mobile, banged up QB makes us a long-term contender.

My comment was on overpaying for Stafford, which, if we would've given what was reported...would have been an extreme overpay.

If you want to debate that, then your knowledge of how front offices and teams are built is below a Madden Franchise Mode-level of understanding.

So what your trying to say is our new GM and coach are not smart. Ok lol

I agree but they didn’t win with him  . May as well lose without him and replace him. My idea of a franchise qb differ from most i. You don’t need a stacked roster to win games esp if you’re franchise QB that’s just my opinion . I like Stafford but he came up short his whole career . Nice arm and he truly talent it’s just too late for me to give up 8th for a 33 year old . Is it super bowl or bust for rams next year ?

I was listening to ESPN this morning, and I heard about so many things that Stafford had to deal with that other QBs with similar QBRs did not! I can't remember them all, but he either played with 1 or 0 top 10 defenses in his career. He also only had an RB eclipse 100 yards 11 times in 12 years. Also, during that same span, the running game averaged 89 yards! And this ain't all! Basically Stafford got no help for most of his career there despite putting up high level numbers.

No

he stated not New England first and then when the Panthers approached, stafford said ‘no’ er the TV report so their were two NE and Carolina per Simms contact

Again stuff like this makes you have to reevaluate the Cam Newton legacy, carried a franchise nobody even wants to play for and we tossed him aside like garbage.

Andrew Luck

Deshaun Watson

Matthew Stafford

All QBs that don’t/didn’t want to play here. Tepper needs to change the perception of this franchise. I’ve said for a long time that the only thing that kept us from being the Browns was having Cam. Hard for fans here to realize but we aren’t viewed as a great place to play especially knee deep in a rebuild. Stafford knew like I’ve been telling y’all he only gets us to 8-8 and that’s a waste of time and money for all parties.

Is Russell Wilson on the back end of his career?

Probably, based on age.  He has managed to take less abuse than Stafford so the back nine could take as long to play as the front nine did.  Wilson somehow has the nine lives of a cat, and that may be because defenders rarely get a straight-on shot at him.  He reminds me of a modern-day Tarkenton.  Barring him starting to be abused, he could play to an age starting with a "4" if he wanted to and his arm holds out.

I don't see that with Stafford.  He has played a lot of games in Detroit over the years that involved him "rubbing some dirt on it and going back out there."  Rivera would be proud.

Age-wise, Stafford will be 33 in a few days, Wilson during the 2021 season.  The actual clock is about a half season different, I think.  But the effects of that age do hit everybody differently.

I read that on Saturday Stafford and his wife was having dinner with McVay and his fiance in Cabo in Mexico, not long after the deal was signed. Stafford owns a ranch SE of LA. This is where Stafford wanted to go! The Lions new GM came from the Rams and helped to draft Goff. So, I think pretty much this was going to happen this way.

Well 6 of the 10 ten passers in the NFL this year were 30+. Hell, 4 of the 6 were 36+.

Also, of those 4, one has struggled with(and played through) injuries his entire career and two of the others have had serious knee injuries.

Remember that this is also the modern NFL where it is almost illegal to touch the QB. As long as you don't have a guy that isn't getting a RB pounding(Carr, Cam, etc), they should last for a while.

I just am not buying into this "too old" mantra for these top flight QB's. Not all of them are Andrew Luck.

He's old and often injured.

He's started 16-of-16 games 9 of the last 10 years.

Prior to suffering fractures in his thoracic spine mid-season 2019 he had started 136 consecutive games which at the time was the 2nd longest streak in the NFL.

Sounds more like an Iron Man...

The thing is that of course he gets injured. Philip Rivers got injured all the time too. EVERYONE IN THE NFL GETS INJURED.

I really have no idea how he got the "injury prone" rap. My God....if he is always injured, how is he throwing for 4k+ yards all the time?? Guess he wasn't that injured.

Sounds familar look what I wrote in my Mac Jones post ? I told y’all him and Watson don’t want to come to Carolina they want to win now

Well Watson is also rumored to be interested in the Jets, and that is about as far from a "win now" franchise as you could get.
