I will say tho, if the team pulls it off, that I cannot WAIT for the Huddle accountants to start screaming that because Watson is getting $40M+ in 2022 & 2023 that every throw should be a TD otherwise he "isn't worth it."

He isn't getting $40+ mil at any point in that contract unless he stays in Houston.

How are we building our oline in that scenario?

The Huddle has taught me that OLs don't matter, only franchise QBs do. Because Joe Thomas couldn't get Dan Marino a Super Bowl ring, or something like that.

But fwiw the OL can be held together by retaining Moton and getting two cheap Gs. While Scott isn't a franchise LT, he did better than Little. Speaking of Little, Walker Little might be available in the 3rd and a replacement to free up cash from Paradis can definitely be found in this year's draft.

That is under the "I'll only go to Carolina" theory. I HOPE that happens but I am willing to bet that Watson has more than one place he would like to go.

I do still believe he will go for less than the media is predicting.

That's under the great deal for us and I don't care about Huston price. The fact is that some of the options Huston has here are terrible for Watson. He may be OK with that but again, not for 3 first. They fugged up and we have a chance of not fixing it for them by doing this bad deal. I wouldn't even do 2 first regardless. Watson has the power here, put Huston in a corner and squeeze.

Why in the hell do people on this board want to give away everything for the next 1-3 years for 1 player? Watson not gonna do poo if we have no picks to get an OL to help him.

If your GM can't continue to build around Watson in rounds 2-7, then you have the wrong GM. If 1st round picks were all it took, Marty would have won multiple super bowls as our GM

Agree, both of those teams can easily out bid us.  Hopefully Miami doesn't want him and he doesn’t want New York.

This

They have the #2 and 3 picks overal as starers.

Here we've been talking itd cost 39 and next years 1st to Move just from our 8 spot (which we're offering in this Watson trade) just to get to 3.

So now we're canceling 8, 39 and the 2022 1 to match that spot.

Then you compare Teddy to Tua and Darnold.  Tua and Darnold are still young, plus their rookie deals is a no brainer compared to Teddy's.

So we're losing in a land slide already just if they offered their 1st 1 and the QB.

Then you put in they have another 1 they can add in this class.  AND the Jets have 2 1s next year if they want him bad enough.

This is like you or me in a auction for something we like, but David Tepper is across the room bidding.  If Tepper wants it, you or me don't have a shot.

Getting reeeaaal close to it since he has a $35M salary in 2022. Drops to $20M in 2023 but then hikes back up to $32M the two seasons after (roster bonus is covered by the old team, correct? Or is that not covered like signing bonuses?)

    • We could easily pick apart yesterday’s game: dropped passes, blown coverages, bad tackling and red zone issues to name a few. But it was clear that this wasn’t the same team from earlier in the season. They fought back and hung with the champs until the end. That’s what I was excited to see and it gives me hope that we’re on the right track.
    • I think BY played well today and exceeded expectations. I will temper future expectations as he has to string together many games of consistent quality. One game doesn’t convince me that he is a franchise QB or even a guy you want to stick with for another season. One game doesn’t erase all the negative play and limitations from the past couple of years. I hope he balls out and continues to get better but for me the verdict is still out   That said, I think he gave the team and fans hope yesterday which is a lot more than what we had when we woke up Sunday morning.
    • He was vastly improved today and we need to see more of Bryce the rest of the season to continue evaluate him in order to decide what the heck to do with him at the end of the season. He must play at least like this and improve more from here the rest of the season in order for me to keep him. No more 123 yard passing games and want to see at least this output weekly from him. If this is Bruce improving slowly over time then Canales is even better with developing QB's than I thought he was but still too early to tell and we need to see him the rest of the way as he has at very least earned back the starting gig moving forward.
