Carolina Panthers to be 'aggressive' in pursuit of potential Deshaun Watson trade

Watson may have a no-trade clause, but that doesn't have any bearing on the terms- only the team. Carolina might offer up something, but the Texans don't even have to consider it.

And, on the other hand, the Texans stand a pretty good chance of being on the receiving end of a bidding war when it comes to Miami and the Jets.

He has to approve the trade. thats what it means. he has the upper hand come trade time.

I'm with it as long as DJ stays. Watson is an elite QB.

Jonathan Jones estimated it would take first round picks, Christian McCaffrey and Brian Burns.

Other teams have way more draft capital than we do. And if you're counting on Watson saying he only wants to go to the Panthers, that's probably a pipe dream.

We had one.

We wasted him.

And if we give up too much to get this one, there's a good chance we'll waste him too.

We drafted Cam in 2011.  In 25 years as an organization we have had one elite young quarterback.

You wanna wait another 20 or deal some players and pics to ensure it?

I'm not up for repeating the same mistake we already made.

You get a young quarterback but trade away your ability to build anything around him, you haven't learned anything.

He has to approve the team. (we may be saying the same thing here...)

He has no say-so over the terms. The Texans will decide who they negotiate with. And, as Watson himself has said, the Jets may be a good place for him. But the Texans may decide they won't listen to any offers from the Jets just to be sure Watson doesn't get what he wants.

And if you seriously think we can get him for just that, I've got a nice sized bridge to sell you.

If he wanted to force himself to the Panthers and the Panthers only I think that price could be feasible if the player is Burns. Burns is worth every bit of two 1st round picks. So that's 3 1sts for a player who is forcing his way to a specific team. But yeah in a bidding war I don't think Burns and #8 gets it done.

It won’t matter if he doesn’t want to play for those teams, which there was one report saying he has no interest in playing for the Jets.

Watson himself liked a social media post about him going to the Jets and is reported to be a big fan of Robert Saleh.
