Carolina Panthers to be 'aggressive' in pursuit of potential Deshaun Watson trade

All you guys keep saying to include our best player in Brian Burns in a trade for a qb who plays like cam did in his prime and we all saw how that ended. Keep the picks keep Burns because I remember von Miller beating the panthers in the superbowl.  Watson has maybe 3 more years playing the way he does before his body starts to break down from all the scrambling around and highlight runs while getting trucked in the process. So yes keep picks like I said and Burns and keep getting pressure on the qb and who knows maybe burns can be our von miller. KEEP BURNS

Lmao what? Watson is not remotely the same kind of runner that Cam was.

We lost SB 50 because the NFL rigged the game for Manning to get his retirement trophy. On top of Ron not giving Remmers any help.

Burns is a stud but he is also the most expendable and the likely target the Texans would want in return.

You attract Watson with CMC, DJ Moore, Robby Anderson, maybe the return of Curtis Samuel.

You don’t attract Watson by ridding yourself of CMC, his potential #1 WR in DJ, and then still possibly lose his next #1-2 in Curtis Samuel to FA.

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!

Multiple headshots on Cam not called. The Cotchery catch on the biggest momentum play of the game. Denver offsides on two missed field goals not called. The biggest game of the year and refs can’t call a fair game. Yeah I call horseshit when I see it.

We made our share of mistakes but if you can’t see the bias in that game then that’s on you bro.

If anyone has to go it would and should be Burns. We can generate a pass rush by committee and bring in specialists. Can’t replace the best RB in the league and the best safety we’ve had in years.

i would much rather sell CMC and his salary. burns will likely have twice as many productive years as CMC due to their respective positions.

I mean that’s a fair point. But you would be trading him and then looking for his replacement and we will probably not have a 1st round pick to use.

Which I guess you’d bring back Davis. CMC isn’t just another back though. He’s an LT lite for us in what he brings to the table. Great runner, excellent receiver, great blocker and keeps the defense honest. If we don’t have him then that’s like serving Watson steak and potatoes without any steak.

If you trade CMC, then would pay top dollar to retain Curtis Samuel?

We offer TB, Paradis, Boston, Slye, next years 1st and a life time of free subscription to Sweet Caroline!!! I just dont think offering the farm for him is worth it... we have to many needs.. I think Stafford  is more realistic but I think we should stay away from him cuz of his injuries!! I think we should go BPA at 8 and possibly trade backup for Mac Jones I think he is like Rothburger.. just not as stout .. Jones is growing on me

Its not extremely replace a running back. Stop it.

And for all the great things CMC can do its not gonna get you the wins you need to make the playoffs. Thats just the truth.

U guys are too funny. Trade burns or dj? For a qb who plays like cam did granted not as good as cam. Keep picks and draft a qb on rookie pay scale. U guys really want a cry baby qb who wants out when things don't go her way. Time to wake up.

Cam and Watson don’t have similar games.

I don't recall them winning a SB and in spite of having the best DT all time have a medicore defense.

Great point.

If you don't win a superbowl you are a failure.

If keeping 3 first round picks instead of trading for Watson doesn't get the Panthers a superbowl win, then it was the wrong move.

(Did I do it right?)

They dont? Both aren't dual threat qbs? We watching the same watson right?

Steve Young and Cam Newton didn't have the same game.

Vick and Cam didn't have the same game.

Vick and Rodgers don't have the same game.

and the opposite end of the spectrum Peyton Manning and Teddy didn't play the same game.

Just because Watson can run and Cam can run....doesn't make them similar players

    • I don't get the Hunter hate. Just imagine his ceiling if he stopped trying to be this 2way freak and focused on one side of the ball
    • 100%.  You have to play the cards that are dealt.  Not the cards you wish were dealt.
    • I'd say its definitely going to be addressed this off-season.  We went into the last draft with a roster of RBs including:  Chubba, Blackshear, and Miles Sanders. We picked Jonathan Brooks in the second and still signed Rashaad Penny afterwards.  Fast forward....One turned into a top 10 back, 1 is injured/out for most if not all the '25 season, 1 retired, 1 will either take a huge paycut or be cut, and the last is a restricted free agent. We brought in Mike Boone as well. Add him to the free agent list also.  We need a physical option.    Which qualifies:  Ashton Jeanty(Boise St): Overall ranked Top 10. Almost 2k yards after contact, 28 tds. Would take our first rounder. My money would be on an NFC East team selecting him. (97.2 PFF run grade) - 121 forced missed tackles.  Omarion Hampton(UNC): Ranked everywhere from 20 - 59 overall. Consensus #2 back after Jeanty. He'll be a second rounder. 1,222 Yards after contact w/ 15 tds.  (90.5 PFF run grade) - 72 forced missed Tackles Kaleb Johnson(Iowa): Ranked from 38 - 69 depending on which media outlet you prefer but generally #3. 2nd/3rd possibly. 1,060 Yards after contact w/ 21 tds.(86.7 PFF run grade)- 66 forced missed tackles Cam Skattebo: Ranked from the 50's - 104. Every mock I do he ends up BPA at some point. 969 Yards after contact w/ 17 tds(92 PFF Run Grade). Probably the best receiving back of the group. 81 forced missed tackles.  If the '24 and '25 draft classes were combined, IMO the rankings would be, in order: Jeanty, Hampton, Brooks, Johnson, Skattebo. I wouldn't take one high but I'd take one for Chubba and Brooks insurance.
