Carolina Panthers to be 'aggressive' in pursuit of potential Deshaun Watson trade

Outside a handful of NFL teams, most clubs should at least consider making a call on Watson. With a no-trade clause, Watson holds the ultimate leverage on his potential destination. Nonetheless, it would behoove most clubs to at least gauge the temperature of a potential trade.

One club that appears to be near the top of the list of suitors: The Carolina Panthers.

NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Thursday on NFL NOW that the Panthers will be "aggressive" in pursuit of the 25-year-old QB.

"Don't sleep on the Carolina Panthers," Rapoport said. "They are a team that I'm told is going to be aggressive in potentially acquiring Deshaun Watson."

Am I correct in thinking Bill O'Brian would have been running an E-P system in Houston? How much of a transition would be it for Watson to the modified WCO Brady prefers?

Y'all realize that his no trade clause gives him the right not decline being traded to a team he does not want to go? Meaning if he doesn't want to go to the JETS, he does not GO there. Watson has leverage here guys. If he wants to play for you he will accept the trade.

This. Other teams have more to give the Texans but Watson gets final say and he may not want to go to those teams.

Same report we talked about last week. Starting to wonder if I wouldn't rather draft a young qb in the draft. The picks we would have to give up plus the dead money from Teddy's contract and other subsequent cuts could cripple us for years to come.

Still comes down to what Watson wants. If he doesn't want those teams the trade won't happen.

However any deal would involve multiple 1st round picks so the Texans can alway use those to trade with NYJ or the Dolphins to get the QB they want in the draft.
