Has anyone thought about the price of a #1??????????????

Didn't think so.

We don't have the money as it is, and I'm sick of hearing the pipe dream of a uncapped year.

Get real people. We don't have one, and we can't afford one.....plain and simple.

gahhhhhh

Trading a good young RB like Stewart is just not something I can get excited about. I'd only be in favor of it if we could get somebody that's way more proven than Tyler Thigpen or Jason Campbell. As to Kevin Kolb, remember how good A J Feeley looked in relief of McNabb? Remember how he looked after the Dolphins got him?

Frankly, if we're looking to trade someone, I'd rather trade a player on the downside of his career (yes, Steve Smith) than a guy that's just getting started. In either case though, the names mentioned so far aren't guys I'd consider equal value.

Everything I have read says next year will be uncapped because the owners want it that way. They are considering Spring of 2011 as the deadline for signing a new CBA not this spring. I would be shocked if they agree to anything unless the players are willing to give back 10% of their current split and lower the cap. I can't see that happening so you can bank on an uncapped year next year. You heard it here first.

agreed.

Jstew for Kolb anyone???

There's no way the Eagles would trade a 'QB of the future' who has flashed a lot of promise when LeSean McCoy is also showing promise. Besides, they could just draft a power back anyway.

1. Deangelo is a perennial pro bowl feature back.

2. We have no QB.

3. Good RB's are much easier to draft than good QB's

4. Hurney/Fox would never have even drafted Stewart if they understood what they had in Deangelo.

5. Mike Goodson is a baller

I say No! Our running game is good if not great, theres no need to mess with that. Yes I agree that a RB is easier to draft than a QB, but I'd leave the only good thing we've got going alone and address the issues that keeps us from winning; like QB and Special Teams. Either we can draft a QB, pick someone up in FA or trade away another pick, but crippling our running game is not the answer.

I'm all for it I could find two or three guys in this loaded draft to come in and be a true power back to complement Dwill (I consider Stew to be an every down back more then a 3 yards and a cloud of dust Bettis type). Guys like Anthony Dixon (6' 245lbs) outta Miss. State or LeGarrette Blount (6'1" 248lbs and good speed) outta Oregon are perfect compliments to Dwill not to mention perfect fits for the power running scheme Fox employs. They both are graded out to be 3-4th rounders and that's without the influx of Junor class man.

But you can forget it the trade value wont be there with the terrible start (and the fumbles) we would be lucky to get 2nd or 3rd round trade value for him. He might finish the year on fire, if we can get 1st round value outta him I'm all for it. I was hesitant when we drafted him because of how much faith I had in Dwill but you can't argue he was a big reason we were 12-4 last year.

Like I said in my thread on this same matter, look at the 32 teams in the NFL. Only THREE have two "superstar" RBs on their roster: the Panthers, the Saints, and the Cowboys. Those last two you can actually argue! That means there are 29 teams out there with one amazing RB, and a #2 to relieve the starter when needed. Let's look at the backs most people consider being Top 5, minus the Panthers:

1. Minnesota - Peterson (Chester Taylor #2). Is J-Stew better than Taylor? Hell yes.

2. Jacksonville - Jones-Drew (doesn't even HAVE a #2)

3. Atlanta - Turner (Snelling/Norwood #2s). Is J-Stew better than they are? By leaps and bounds.

4. Tennessee - Johnson (White #2) Laughable comparison.

5. St. Louis - Jackson (Darby #2) Who?

What the Panthers need is a WR and a QB. In another thread I commented in, I listed the current Top 10 statistical RBs, their teams, and IF THEY HAD a great WR core. The teams that did have a Top 10 back and solid WRs have a winning record. The teams that had the back but no WR had a losing record.

The Panthers can do just fine with DeAngelo as the primary back and someone like Goodson backing him up. And you ask, what happens if D-Lo gets hurt? We suffer. Just like those 29 teams would if their main back went down. Injuries happen. This team can't win on their run game alone. We need help. We need to rebuild, trade, sign a FA, etc.

What we don't have is a #1 draft pick. We'd even settle for two #2 picks. What we do have is an amazing running back that could bring us something great in return. We all love J-Stew, but we don't NEED him. What we do NEED is another WR and a better QB.

Yes, cause a good RB value = a good QB value, right?

Oh wait, nevermind.

Onto the Bold ~ The Panthers drafted Stewart cause Fox and Hurney both know you can never have enough good backs.

NOBODY is gonna trade us a QB for a RB or WR. And if they did, I wouldnt want them anyway because they more than likely suck. Why we always want to take shortcuts to try to get success? We're gonna have to do like all the other franchises and endure a shitty season to get a top draft pick to DRAFT A QB.
