Yes, the Patriots did want Teddy last offseason. Bill was upset they didn't get him. Now, I am not sure they want him at $20 million, and that is the issue

but id bet folding money if this indeed is the teams thought process, that they've convinced themselves of their own cleverness with the dream of shipping off a first for Stafford, "addressing" the QB position, and then shipping #8 overall off for some 5th wave prospect and another projected low value 1st or a couple 2s to replace the future 1 they gave up

it's the definition of cutesy for a team that is in pretty solid positioning for a long term answer, it's what happens when you let math people make football decisions

Picks are life when you’re rebuilding. You don’t give them away for a past-his-prime injury prone QB.

We can get one of those for no picks somewhere else.

Id be ok giving up a day 3 pick, but not a first or second.

But again like Watson, I dont want to give up picks. Stafford wants out of rebuilding for the past 13 years. FYI as it pains to know, panthers are still rebuilding in 2021.
