Vernon Davis: ‘I think we can destroy the Bears front’

Asked for his thoughts on Chicago’s defense, Davis said the 49ers should roll.

“I think we can destroy their front,’’ he said. “The guys up front, I think we can destroy them. I don’t see anything spectacular about their front line.” ...

After a few days of watching game film, Davis said that Adewale Ogunleye was about the only player to catch his eye .

“Their linebackers, I think we can handle them pretty well,’’ he said. “I like Ogunleye. I like the way he’s playing up front. He’s about the only player I like on their defensive line. I think he’s doing a good job.”

the sad thing is, he's right, the defensive line started out great and has been poo the last 4 weeks.

Tho I have to question his film study. Alex Brown has been the only consistent performer on the line, Ogunleye hasn't shown up since week one.

Havent watched the Bears much this year, and the season isnt over yet, but what do Bears fans think is needed to improve? No.1 WR and a healthy Urlacher seem to be obvious, but what else would you like to see added to your team?

I really don't think WR is the problem at all, though many like to say it is. Hester has done a pretty good job, IMO. I think our problems lie in our O Line and the Defense as a whole. Our D Line has been horrible, though they showed some life tonight, our LBs are just not good enough and frankly, I think our Cover 2 scheme is too predictable. Our CBs aren't what they were, our safety's are average if not below average, and that's the bottom line. Our defense played OK against a mediocre offense tonight and lost thanks to our QB turning the ball over. I won't give credit to the SF defense because I just don't feel like they really earned it- it was given to them. 1 pick was due to a WR slipping, another pick was obviously pass interference and the other 3 were just horrible passes by Cutler, Grossmanesque even. Our "window of opportunity" has closed with this current platoon and it's time to infuse some youth on the defensive side of the ball.

The problem is our int prone qb play(Jay Grossman/Delhomme) and a lack of any sort of O-line. This Bears team is playing like garbage from top to bottom.

I think Earl Thomas, the Texas S, or Arthur Jones would look good in a Bears uniform.
