Waiting for the next ww2 genre game that completely immerses you into a full simulation and map size where flight, naval, arty, and first person shooter with full damage controls on all aspects of towns, fields, forests, whatever are realized along with the feeling of being part of a unit...but not gay RPG-esque. WITH the visual capability of modern day simplistic 1st person shooters.

old games:

techno bowl

perfect games, not the most broken, unbalanced game of all time

also i love people who are obsessed with MGS as political commentary and insist it's one of the most brilliant thing ever concocted.

"well, you see, the man who psychically controls bees is actually a commentary on hurf smurf durfafurd"

Dark Age of Camelot (Pre New Frontiers) - Best team PvP ever. I beat the hell out of some keyboards playing that game. ToA made staying competitive harder but it didn't kill the PvP at least

Half Life Series - Awesome engrossing storyline with very good gameplay. One of the first games to almost have a "living the movie" quality to it.

Mario Kart 64 - Hours and Hours of Battle Mode fun with buds

Goldeneye 64 - Ditto the above

Tetris - Most addicting simplistic game ever

Deus Ex - One of the first games to really combine the FPS & RPG genre's while making it work. Great story too.

Duke Nukem 3D - Over the top Humor and Action, what's not to love?

Zelda Ocarina of Time is by far the best game ever, on any system, period. I got a ROM for my PC, and have played through it twice since doing so. And what strikes me now, is that even going head-to-head against current games with all their detailed graphics, and physics engines, and destructible environments, and open game play, I still enjoy playing Zelda. It was way, way ahead of it's time. The gameplay was inventive, the graphics are AMAZING for a 64-bit game, and have held up remarkably well. It was an adventure game, a puzzle game, a shooter, a sandbox, and an RPG, all rolled into one package. It was a pivitol moment in gaming matched perhaps by the motion capture technology that arrived with the Wii. I think my kids will play Zelda some day and be impressed by it.

Other all-time greats:

Rogue Squadron - a personal favorite

Alien vs. Predator 2 - rarely mentioned in these conversations, but totally matched the mood, and ambiance of the Aliens movies. Not to mention a tremendous multi-class multiplayer that kept me from dating for years.

Deus Ex

Half Life 2

Super MarioWorld

Command and Conquer Tiberian Sun

Halo 2 - sorry Inimicus. Got to include this if for no other reason than it was a college LAN staple

Mario Kart

Bioshock

KOTOR

Doom 3 - scariest game I have ever played, and fear is a rare experience in video games. I couldn't play this one in the dark.
