Oh, lol. Thanks for clearing that up.

ive never heard of Robert jones, but just checked the draft networks big board with 400+ players and he’s not even listed on there, so assuming he’s not very good

Me either, but I saw him on the Dolphins squad. He is from Middle Tennessee St. Small school offensive lineman that no one has heard of, sounds like a perfect Hurney pick for Washington

My fear is we fall in love with some late round QB while coaching the Senior Bowl and we try to find our next Russel Wilson.

The whole advantage of coaching the team is to get a good look at other players.

If Newman for example shows he has the tools and the athleticism to play in this league why wouldn't you want to put him higher on your board if we aren't able to draft a QB early.

Everyone wants to bitch and moan about getting a 1st round QB and they also bitch and moan about having TB at QB for another season.  If you can't get that first round pick than plan B might be that player you coached in the Senior bowl.

Well sometimes things don't work out like you want them too.  If you select a QB you coached in the Senior Bowl in the 4th round and he turns out to be a gem.  Everyone is happy,  If not, we didn't waste too much draft capital on a QB.

Yeah, I know, trade up for one.  Got it, but what if they are asking too much or no one wants to trade.  Because you want to trade doesn't mean anyone has to hear you.

You have to be ready for any circumstance.

He looks like a potential guard candidate. I've seen him compared to Robert Hunt, the Dolphins second round pick a year ago who started 11 games for them. Most at RT, though supposedly Miami wants him inside.

but history tells us that finding a good QB after the 1st round is almost impossible.  Taking a QB in the first doesn't guaranteed they will make it, but taking them out of the first almost guarantees they don't.

Maybe a 1st round QB only has a 10% chance of being a quality starter, but after the 1st that might drop to .05%.  That is 20 times less likely.

I'm not a big fan of chasing exceptions, I can use that draft pick to pick a position that actually has a realistic chance of making it.  That Grier pick could have a guard that actually had a realistic chance to be a quality starter.

If we need a QB we need to take one in the first round, you  move up or down in the round as needed.

Of the 4 QBs in this draft only 1 has surefire written all over him.   Trading up to get one of the other 3 may not produce the results you are looking for.

My point is, your demanding one of these first 4 QBs and it's a strong possibility than we may not be able to move up or down to get one.

The Senior Bowl gives Rhule a chance to look at 2 QBs that many fall to the 2nd or 3rd or possibly the 4th round.   It gives the coaches the opportunity to move these players up and down their draft board.

If I couldn't get a QB in round one (Which I hope we do) I would have my eyes on a player that might be one of those under the radar players.

In all seriousness, this is a great opportunity for the team and having those 2 QBs under the microscope, with Newman and Mond, at this event couldn't have worked out any better.

Hopefully it means we don’t do something crazy like take them at 8, but maybe with 39/trade up from there. Best case would be Newman showing out and we get him at 39 and get one of the top 2 tackles at 8.

I was going to say this. IMO, there are 3 that are obvious, Lawrence, Fields, & Wilson; and 3 others that have 1st round possibilities, Lance Trask and Jones. I think that 1 or 2 of theses later 3 would be there at 39 as well as Newman and Mond (I don't know a great deal about these 2). I'm hopeful about our chances of getting our next long-term QB out of this draft. AND a solid LT.

I don’t know if Newman has that potential but it just would be cool to find a diamond who we got to know better and actually liked more than someone available at 8. That said if we like a top QB better, just take him at 8. My biggest worry is falling for a Trask or Jones who aren’t worth the 8th pick but using it anyway.

I see them both in the 15-25 range (who knows how the draft will go), not top 10. IF we land one of them, I hope we trade back to do do so.

that being said...WTF do I know?!? If Rhule and Fritter want one of them at 8, they're not stupid.

Lol. You went from saying the OT group and segued right to Jones which I knew was an OL name. Had no idea you went to Mac Jones, especially since we talking OL at that point. I don’t know poo about Robert Jones just remembered him from the posts of the rosters before the team split.

Yeah I should’ve clarified who I was talking about since I just mentioned the  OL group. Totally see how you thought that

I'd love the have the Panthers get a close look at him by coaching him.  Very strong in the RZ and with contested catches.  Was impressed by him when looking into Jamie Newman.

Supposed to be another announced late add today.  It seems with alot of the draft process cancelled and tweaked the Senior Bowl is getting alot of strong prospects entering late.  Another highly rated prospect is expected to be announced today.

And Najee Harris will be working with the Dolphins staff.

Some nice guys who might be there at 39 or later.

The combine getting cancelled will actually help us at the Senior Bowl.

Our 3rd rd pick may be RICH at DT.

This class isnt beastly up top.  And this class is Stacked at QB, OL, CB (funny our 3 biggest needs)  but everything ive seen and heard, guys like Marvin Wilson should expect to fall to late 2nd warly 3rd

I know a couple of these guys. Wilson is mainly viewed as a NT.  Basham is a bigger DE who can rush from the 3T on 3rd down much like Obada was used. Roche was a DE at Temple before Miami where he got a big boost playing opposite Rousseau.

3-techniques should be the focus and the only one I know who is one on this list is Sample who was a stud for Tulane but I haven't looked into why.

I'm going to have to look into this group more. Anyone have notes on this group?
