National Championship Thread: 3 The Ohio State Buckeyes vs 1 Alabama Crimson Tide 8 PM All ESPN Networks

That play right there before the FG is why I don't care for targeting*. I paused it and Proctor absolutely hits Harris helmet to helmet/shoulder to helmet and you can see Harris' head snap back, yet they didn't even stop to look at it. Hard hit just like the first one, helmet to helmet very obvious, but no call.

* I shouldn't say don't care for it at all. There are times when the offensive player is already down or truly defenseless. I don't like these calls where the defender is actually preventing a play like the earlier hit which caused an incompletion. If you call that, why is this one not as bad? Harris was a WR on the play and did not see Proctor before the hit. Be consistent.

I didn’t see the after game stuff. Did Mitch have to accept an award after even though they lost since he was the NVP?

No, they didn't do that to him, thank God. I did see that Sean Payton got slimed though.

Today, people on Twitter are talking about how guys like Manning, Brady and Montana never won an NVP but Trubisky has.

Hate seeing waddle limping around out there. Before he was injured this year he was dynamic. I think he just wants to play in his last national championship game. But he really needs to sit out

Yeah, he got a catch earlier in the game. You got out there, buddy. Your team is winning going away. Sit it out.

Wow. I have no idea how Harris 1) held onto the ball and 2) didn't get laid the fug out.

That's the problem with the targeting calls. Because the OSU TE got knocked out, it was called, but since Harris took the hit in stride, it wasn't. Both were clear helmet to helmet hits. I paused it and Proctor's shoulder and helmet went directly into Harris' helmet, until the momentum crashed both together, Proctor only made contact to Harris' helmet and went high.
