Not sinister. More gullible. Ever since that one post, I’ve seen numerous posts about how all the bad decisions are now Hurneys fault. He lost his power struggle the day Rhule signed a contract. He was kept as Rolodex and timely scapegoat. Why else would he have been here? His ability to destroy a roster, TWICE, since his last successful season. On an expiring contract.

Those kinds of posts have actually been around all season.

I'd put it to you this way: Do you seriously think Marty just said to himself "well, I guess my time here is done" and gave up as opposed to doing whatever he could to show Tepper that he was worth keeping?

He absolutely tried.

And he failed.

What else was he going to do? Work somewhere else? Another year with the team. What did Marty try? Do you think one decision didn’t have Rhule’s approval? What players and roster decisions did Marty make.

And who made theses comments during the season. Just because someone types it, doesn’t make it true.

At least he doesn't owe Big Ben 41 million for next year. LOL.

At no point did anyone suggest that Matt Rhule didn't sign off on it. He clearly did.

What Zack added was that Marty was one of the ones pushing hardest for us to sign him  That's consistent with the understanding that winning this season was more important to him than it was to others since his contract was up and, unless he gave them a reason to keep him, he was going to be gone.

And again, I believe Zack's comments to be true because he's been proven right over and over.

If Matt Rhule is the one making the decisions, what does it matter what Hurney, or anyone else, thought? That’s the point. Why the statement just hours after, with an insinuation it was his decision. That was the effect. How many people have referenced the salary cap mistakes as Hurney decisions since that one post. How about before he was fired? Where are all those at?

Did anyone even bother to ask what he meant? Or did everyone just assume the truth they wanted.

Here is a quick look at every teams estimated 2021 salary cap space against their 2020 record

Top right= good record, good cap position

Top left= good record, bad cap position

Bottom right= bad record, good cap position

Bottom left= disaster

So the Panthers are on the brink of disaster.

nice.

A slightly different look using SRS versus effective cap.

Between Kawann Short ($14.5M), Stephen Weatherly ($5.95M), and Matt Paradis ($8.53M) the team is set to open up nearly $29M in additional cap space. Burris ($3.9M) is another potential cap casualty.

That would put the team at nearly $40.5M in cap space and jump the team just above where CIN is sitting on the chart.

Any additional funds could also be netted from restructuring CMC's and/or Shaq's contracts. Considering the reduced salary cap this upcoming season, the Panthers are in a much, much better place than a lot of other squads are.

Agree with a lot of your post, but I'm not so sure we cut Paradis.  KK and Weatherly are both gone for sure.

HIGHLY against kicking the can down the road on CMC and Shaq.  Much prefer for Shaq to get the KK treatment when his contract is viable to do so, and the idea of restructuring a RB contract and paying CMC possibly a couple of years after he's "done" is a quick way to find ourselves back in cap trouble.

Sucks that so many of our FA decisions could come down to our plan in the draft.  If we want to trade up, you can forget about cutting Paradis for instance.  If we sit at 8, keep our picks, draft OL...could maybe cut him then.  Also could be a VERY interesting second wave of FA as some teams will cut decent players simply to get under the cap.  I know in the past we've hated on some of the bargain bins signings we've endured, but this year you may be able to find decent players on the cheap in a short deal as they hope the cap recovers to cash in again.

Still not getting paid 41 mill for one year. 23 mill for this year for Teddy B. LOL. Good try though. Enjoy that.

And neither will Ben.  But I’ll still live with playoff disappointments over worrying about where my team drafts in the top 10 every year.

Cool story. I would rather get a QB in the top 10, than make the Playoffs and get murdered, but to each their own. Especially since Ben is old as poo and now sucks.
