Pretty sure Roaring Riot would say yes to that, based on comments he's made.

And when did these comments come out publicly? Wouldn’t have been shortly after Hurney was fired would they?

Tepper didn’t give a coach 63-70M, so he could do what a GM making about 1M, says as far as building a roster. Why was Hurney seen as the “guy” that wanted TB, only after TB fell to pieces. Before that, it was Brady/Rhule, which it was. Not the GM whose contract was about to run out. Hurney is exactly the scapegoat he was kept to be.

I'm not nearly as concerned about the x axis (wins in 2020) as I am the 2021 cap space (y axis).   Why?  2020 is behind us and there is zero we can do about that now.  The organization can and should be good stewards of our cap space going forward.  In short, that chart can look drastically different for us in 12 short months.

During a discussion of Bridgewater's contract.

Zack didn't paint Marty as the only guy who eanted Teddy here, but did say he was the one who pushed the hardest to sign him. And yeah, this and other moves were likely made in an effort to save his job.

To be clear though, that's not the first time we've heard this.

Even before the season, more than one inside source indicated that Marty was more interested in winning games this year than he was in embracing the rebuild. He was reported to have been trying to convince both David Tepper and Matt Rhule that the team was ready to win now.

About a month or so ago, I think (I'm lousy with time frames). You can probably still find it if you search.

The news about Marty wanting to try harder to win was back during the offseason but I don't remember exactly when.

It was casually dropped into the conversation.

Something along the lines of "The person pushing the hardest for TB was the man with no more years on his current contract".

Or something like that.

So about right after Hurney was fired? As I predicted. And Hurney could have wanted anything and it wasn’t his choice. Rhule did what he wanted. Common sense tells anyone who’s running the ship. 7yrs/63-70M or 1yr/1M? Why would they want a guy making decisions who contract is up in a year. As opposed to the 7 year investment.

If the best you(or RR) got is some possible rumblings about Hurney thinking we could win now(and water is wet) doesn’t put any final decisions on Hurney. And you know I’ve never been for Hurney on almost anything. But he is NOT making final roster decisions. Especially on a QB that the new OC had a previous relationship with.

I take pretty much anything Zack says as reliable. He's proven many times over that he knows what he's talking about.

As to Marty, the earliest discussions were last offseason when Rhule was still new. Yes, that was a power struggle he was doing to lose, but I've got no doubt he went down fighting.

Then why never bring up Hurney as being, in any way responsible for signing Bridgewater? Until hours after Hurney was fired? And you buy that? Is it information or just hoping the people still here didn’t blow these decisions.

Just commenting Hurney thinks we can win, and him having any power to act on it, are two different things.
