Carolina Panthers Salary Cap Space vs Record - A Visual

Zod

Should've cleaned the books this year, "tanked" our way to 2-3 wins, and we'd be in prime position of the rebuild.

Instead, we sign Teddy in a pointless year only to keep striving for mediocrity and are on the disaster line.  Good call, Panthers!

*Edit - Before the "winning culture" gets stated, Rhule has always sucked in year 1 and then started the winning culture trajectory.  Our 5 wins aren't necessarily a good sign if we continue to be stuck in "missed opportunity" culture.

I still have to wonder if Marty didn't convince them to try to make these move and win more this year to save his job.

Just now, Mr. Scot said:

We kinda did, but the Bridgewater contract and a few others were a bit counterproductive.

I would have preferred to take our lumps with what was left of the roster after the purge.  Just filled out the roster with udfa's and made Newton play out his contract, even if he sat out I would have went with Grier and let the chips fall where the may.

Other than that it went about as well as Hurney could pull out of his ass, as usual.

This is not counting for the players that will be released in Short, Weatherly, and a few others that will give us some cap room. Once that happens, well. It won't be bordering on disaster. It'll be a tad bit better.

Also it’s just for next season, one which we are obviously not expected to contend in anyways. It looks a lot better from ‘22 onward (for now anyways). Cap really isn’t a big issue for this team, it was just going to take some time to shed all the bad contracts left over from the previous regime.

To me, this was 1,000% it.  Only other option was Teddy is signed to convince Brady to come & install the offense "ahead of schedule" as opposed to waiting on our future QB to do so.

The other option is the staff truly thought Teddy is a franchise QB.  When dozens of random Huddlers could see that he wasn't the minute he was signed, doesn't speak too highly of the coaching staff's scouting and scares the poo out of me for whatever QB we draft this year.

Brady was already here. We hired Joe Brady in January. Teddy didn't sign until March.
