I know I may be in the minority but does anyone else view the Rooney rule as ridiculous? I understand the premise behind it, but some decisions have already been made and I would think as a minority candidate it would be far more insulting to be interviewed because it's a requirement because of the color of your skin instead of being because of talent. If I'm the owner of a billion dollar team I'm trying to get the best candidate regardless of color.

Shh logic is duh raycist!

seriously though most of the time the teams already know who they are going to get so the Rooney rule just forces them to interview a minority they have no interest in actually hiring. It’s all about optics.

Personally I loved him when he was on the radio. Marty may not be a good fit anymore but he is a nice guy.

He's always been a nice guy.

Ron Rivera's a great guy.

I'm just glad that neither of them is running the Panthers anymore.

One funny little footnote here...

After firing Marty with two weeks left in the season, David Tepper indicated one of the reasons behind the timing was that it might allow Hurney to get an early start on pursuing the Washington GM job.

Cool... except that apparently didn't happen.

Washington hasn't made any moves on the GM front, and is only now set to start exploring options because their season's over.

Nothing sinister, mind you. Just kind of... funny.

People say silly things when put in uncomfortable situations.

Dan Snyder is basically an idiot when it  comes to an NFL team or building a front office organization for an NFL  team, so anything is possible.  He has proven himself to be like a dog watching TV.

The last thing he needs is a glorified yes man in the position, but given his track record on hiring, that means it will be exactly the type he hires.

He's letting Ron Rivera run the GM search.
