Richardson knows if Steve Smith is traded, sales of everything Panther related will go down and that is something he probably doesn't want to see.

It's not just that. Steve is not "whiney." He's used to getting so many threw his way and he's not getting them at this point. He likely believes it's the coaching staffs fault and he feels that if he can get the ball, he can make something happen (which is what he does - he's a playmaker).

There's nothing wrong with Steve Smith, and unless he leaves the organization himself or declines to the point where he's useless (which won't happen), then I doubt you'll ever see him gone.
