I wonder if they plan to interview more candidates?

Eleven candidates isn't enough? :)

Haven't seen any indication. There were other names previously mentioned as possibilities but no other requests have been submitted.

I'd love to get this wrapped up this week.

This being the one year anniversary of the Matt Rhule hire, getting it done today would be cool.

For the record, I'm still pulling for Peters, Dodds or Ireland, though I'd be okay with Schoen too.

Dodds or Peters and I'm ecstatic, Ireland I'm happy, Schoen I'm good with it.

Anyone else I'm hopeful (to what level depends on their prior resume).

Seeing a pattern?

Of looking at cap guys when Rhule specifically said he wants a talent evaluator?

Oy :eyeroll:

One of the things that made Marty Hurney so bad at his job was that he all too often believed he was the smartest guy in the room when he was actually far from it. David Tepper could conceivably be that same guy, one who thinks he's gonna revolutionize everything but actually just ends up failing.

I'd hate to think we finally got out from under the thumb of Jerry Richardson just to wind up stuck with someone else who doesn't know what he's doing either.

Ok, thanks for filling in the gaps!

It's strange we are looking at cap specialist when we have one in house hired for that reason. I fear you are right but still hope it's due diligence. Cap expertise sure as hell doesn't help us find talent. That's where we need to improve.

Honestly, the NFL is set up where the ownership can be the point of failure so many ways. Rhule is endearing himself to me by targeting an area of weakness, I don't really blame an owner for not getting that. Hopefully Rhule can get his guy, that is a guy who is a talent evaluator. I also get Tepper leaning towards a Cap Specialist, the financial strength overlaps his strengths making him comfortable. Seems like a natural struggle for an NFL team, fingers crossed we can fall on the right side of this one.

    • Karlaftis and Danna have been pretty inconsistent so teams have been doubling Jones and able to contain their pass rush.   But the good thing is that yesterday, we schemed well against Steve Spags Defense, Canales married the surrounding personnel with his QB through play designs within his comfort zone and was able to get downfield at will.  He was able to execute higher difficulty throws and look a lot more comfortable.  It tells me that Canales has a good system in mind, and had an edge gameplanning wise against Spagnuolo - which is nice to see.  It's a bit to see-saw at times with either going way too pass heavy or way too run heavy, but I think he's finding out what works.  It takes time to have it come together, and sure, I could see regression happen against a better front-7, but this was good for the entire system gelling.
    • This was evident first two weeks of season. I don’t see any issues with physical tools since he came back. I think he is a player that must play with confidence to overcome those size limitations and he’s doing that.
    • Still 3-10 on passes over 15 yards.  At least he's not scared to merely attempt them anymore.  Where I see improvement is the 10-15 yard range.  He was 6-6.  Bryce of old was scatter shot on anything beyond 10 yards and the further out, the worse the accuracy.
