Say You're the New GM. What do you Do About the Oline going Into 2021 season??

Unlikely you draft a really good starter for the oline. Usually takes time to develop. The oline is special because you have to draft guys that gel together, not just let players. So it takes time.

I don’t count Paradis...he is ungodly awful and shouldn’t be starting. Plus he has one year left. Once again the Panthers are in the position to address this BEFORE it becomes an (even more) glaring hole and they need to.

They’ve had what...6?8? Starting LTs since Oher? That has to lead to league. I’m clearly not talking about all pros everywhere...even an average LT isn’t easy to find.

I think this also speaks about how talent deficient the nfl in general is at oline. It’s so hard to find good promising players. And even then their windows are usually small. 10 year all pros like Joe Thomas are insanely rare. I think that’s why a mobile qb and the right system is going to be more important because the talent level just isn’t there anymore. Like Sewell is as rare as they come and he’s so good he’s even given me pause about what to do if we were in the position to draft him or a qb.

I’d honestly just tag moton back to back then let him walk while drafting replacements. I don’t see us being a playoff team next year and probably not the year after. It could happen because our schedule looks favorable next year  but I think it’s gonna be year 4 of Rhule before we are a playoff team if we draft well enough and get an effective qb.  People are really going to turn on Matt if I had to guess. But this franchise is a mess.

We went 5-11 with Bridgewater at qb with rookie coaches and a lame duck GM , rookie defense, and a harder schedule than this coming year. I think people are under rating the job Rhule has done give what he had to work with

With a good qb this season would have easily been 8-8 or 9-7.  All but 3 losses were by one possession or less and those three losses were to an aging drew brees and Tom Brady who may not even play next year

That’s the problem though. A lot of this hinges on a good qb. And at our draft spot I’m thinking Lance is gonna be our only option. I’m a huge Lance fan but I understand he’s a serious risk. If you don’t hit on that pick we’re fuged.

Not really . It's better to at least try to resolve qb because we'd just go 8-8 trying to upgrade around Bridgewater. If you think it's difficult this year we'll have an even lower pick next year

Oh I totally think we need to draft a qb. I’m just saying if we pick a bust we’re fuged.

Tepper & crew seem smart enough to cut their losses while they are ahead. I don't think it screws us up that much if we've got the right coach.

If we draft a Rosen, Locker, Gabbert, we'll simply get rid of them and try again.

When's the last time we had a really bad bust in the top 10 and what happened subsequently??

When is the last time we took a highly risky position pick in the top 10?

Cam was somewhat risky, but was the no brainer choice, I find Lance intriguing, but also scary AF due to bust rates of QB's and his current raw level.

I’m not sure what you’re getting at. If we don’t get the right qb with our top ten pick not only are we gonna be stuck in purgatory but we lose out on a top 10 prospect at another position that we sorely need as well. Qb purgatory is real and happens to a ton of franchises.

I would sign or tag Moton, and then spend a 2nd rounder on one of the top remaining LTs and get a center in the 3rd. We can fill in the guards with FAs or guys we already have. I'm not against going center in the 2nd if we have the chance of landing a Ryan Kalil type of player. If we trade up for a QB, I'd trade away future picks, and use this year's picks to get him some protection. If the Panthers feel strongly enough about a QB to trade up, then they should go ahead and invest high picks in his O line. Just my 2 cents.

Of course. But I’m saying that we’ll be a mediocre team for awhile if we draft a bust. A lot hinges on this pick and the direction of our franchise imo

Biakabutuka in 1996.  Potential was there, but couldn't stay healthy. Picked 8th that draft, but top 10 picks for RBs are always risky.  So far CMC is working out.

Definitely. I hope we test the mentality of these prospects as much as the talent.  I don't want some limpd*ck guy with all the skill but can't command a room or lead an offense.
