Eagles tanking

Ron might be the intellectually dumbest high level football coach in the history of football. It's pretty much between him and Dabo.

I have no doubt that he was aware they were tanking. He is just trying to make it appear like he was doing something he wasn't, which was a good job.

I genuinely don't think he is that dumb. If he was that dumb then he wouldn't have had the success that he did at the coordinator level, IMO.

Football intelligence doesn't necessarily equal intellectual intelligence. Kind of like how the best electrician I know has serious learning disabilities. He barely graduated HS, but the man just gets electricity. It clicks for him.

I don't disagree with that but if he can't fathom the situations he is seeing that completely relate to football, I don't think he would be particularly adept at being able to call a good defense.

He was doing what he did for years here, regurgitating some meaningless nonsense at a press conference. We literally saw it every single press conference except the one after he got fired. That was probably the only time he ever let his guard down in front of the media.

We saw him regurgitate the same broken football philosophies in the field too.  Ron is one of those coaches who looks good as long as Plan A works. But Plan A better work and it better not get countered during the game because there is no Plan B. The thought of a Plan B never even crossed his mind.

I mean, he came from those kind of broken philosophies. That was what he grew up in as a player. That is what separates good or bad coaches from great coaches. You either change with the game or it leaves you behind.

Like I said, I don't take his statement at face value. He is just blurting out some typical press conference drivel. I am pretty sure he was aware they were throwing this game at the end.

Wentz may be the shell of a good QB and he also wants to be traded. And....is Hurts a good QB? Are we sure about that yet?

No one is sure of it yet, and they won't be for a couple of years.  However, there is more evidence regarding his potential than there is for any of the QB"s that will be available to the Eagles in the draft.

I wouldn't be shocked if they opt for a QB. Worst case scenario you have 1-2 good QB's on rookie deals versus zero good QB's.

If I were the Eagles GM, I would take my chances with what they have now, and try to find a qb needy team, and trade back. Picking a up a few extra draft picks would be the quickest way to get back into contention.
