can anyone prove that a sports franchise has ever purposely lost games to have a higher draft pick?

Last 32 Super Bowl Champs, can't seem to attach any to a "tank" effort:

San Francisco 49ers > San Francisco 49ers > New York Giants > Washington Redskins > Dallas Cowboys > Dallas Cowboys > San Francisco 49ers > Dallas Cowboys > Green Bay Packers > Denver Broncos > Denver Broncos > St. Louis Rams > Baltimore Ravens > New England Patriots > Tampa Bay Buccaneers > New England Patriots > New England Patriots > Pittsburgh Steelers > Indianapolis Colts > New York Giants > Pittsburgh Steelers > New Orleans Saints > Green Bay Packers > New York Giants > Baltimore Ravens > Seattle Seahawks > New England Patriots > Denver Broncos > New England Patriots > Philadelphia Eagles > New England Patriots > Kansas City Chiefs....

In that time-frame 8 franchises won multiple Super Bowl titles:

Patriots (6), 49'ers (3), Giants (3), Packers (3), Broncos (3), Steelers (2), Ravens (2), Cowboys (2)...

...collectively lots to learn from those franchises --- "tanking" not part of the discussion.

The original question was poorly phrased.

The ultimate goal is a Lombardi Trophy, right?

The original question was worded fine. It was just proven wrong.

But to answer your question. The Denver Broncos sucked ass to the number 2 pick, and would have gotten the 1st, only we sucked worse. Denver needed a QB, but Cam went 1st. That #2 pick results in Von Miller. Von Miller leads the Broncos D to a dominating Super Bowl victory.

One player cant carry an entire NFL team. There are 53 players on the roster. 22 on the field on offense and defense with no subs and no one plays both ways. The closest to ever have done it is Brady and he is the GOAT and only because the other players on his team bought into his hype. 28-3.

Original question poorly worded...overly broad and pointless.

The Broncos had a bad season in 2010 but there wasn't a "tank" in play.

In 2010 The Bills, Bengals & Broncos all finished 4-12...Cardinals & Brown were 5-11... Lions, Texans, Titans, Vikings, Cowboys, Redskins & 49'ers were all 6-10.  Lots of bad teams in 2010 but impossible to single out the Broncos from that crowd.

Lombardi trophies aren't at the end of the tanking rainbow.

Look at those human mascots (Patriots, 49ers, Packers, Steelers, Cowboys). Clearly, we need to change our name to the Carolina Bankers.

(I'm being facetious if it isn't obvious).

We should have totally blatantly tanked like some of the mouth breathing fanbois wanted. Seems to be working out so well for the Eagles locker room.

When the coach manipulates the game by putting the team in unfavorable positions intentionally---that is akin to point shaving.  And this is the biggest point--what the fan base wants is not the issue--as you make it here.  This was wrong because the integrity of the game was compromised on national TV.  That is what hurt the locker room.  If the coach had told the team, "We are going to play the 3rd string QB and some other role players this week and deactivate key starters---and they went out to win--that would not have hurt the locker room.  A 4-10-1 team does not question the coach for playing someone else to see what they can do.  When the coach makes decisions and calls to throw the game, that is a different thing.

Bonus means it’s an add to the original question. Therefore, it doesn’t have to be answered to the original question. Regardless. This was posted on Saturday and Sunday a coach legit did it. A Super Bowl winning coach at that. Lol.

Peterson says he planned to.play the third string guy all along so he says he wasn't tanking but look at the blowback which is why folks don't typically try this.

They do it. It's just way slicker than what he did. I don't think he thought the game was going to be that close. Regardless, he should've just had whatever the hell that was start from the get go.
