CHARLOTTE – The Panthers have signed quarterback Tommy Stevens to the active roster for Sunday's season finale against New Orleans, the team announced on Saturday.

After playing quarterback at Penn State and then Mississippi State, Stevens was drafted as a tight end by the Saints in the seventh round of the 2020 Draft. He spent the first two months of the season on the New Orleans practice squad before being released and signed to Carolina's practice squad where the Panthers listed him as a quarterback.

Sunday will mark his first game week on an active roster.

Panthers QB/TE Tommy Stevens has been signed from the practice squad to the active roster, per the team. The Saints seventh-round pick will have a chance to face his former team. Looks like Joe Brady might have some fun tomorrow against New Orleans.

Misread it. Sounded like a move where teams sign a player previously released by their opponent to get inside info that week. Nevermind

This article from 3 days ago.  Does this mean we are going to look at some experimental personnel situations in this last game?  It suggests that we could treat this as a scrimmage/preseason game---pure speculation.  I am guessing he was running the scout team as Taysom Hill and the Panthers started thinking, "Hey...."
