If we get our wish and draft a QB we MUST sit him for a year?

I don't subscribe to that theory.

If he's ready, and you aren't going to get him killed, you play him.  Some guys do need a year or two to "get ready", but every player is different and you have to trust your staff to know when your player is ready.  Can he make fast decisions?  Does he understand your offense and his role in it?  Does he have a rapport with his receivers?  Once he's got those things, you start him.

What about the Burrow example. He clearly has “it” but got abused behind his line and it ultimately ended his season this year and possibly all next. I don’t have a doubt that a young top 10 QB should start, and I feel like that has become the norm, but should that be the case when we are starting fresh on our O line line we did on defense last year, and knowing that we will have a lot of growing pains which could hurt a your QB’s development?

Herbert also has a bad line and nobody could reasonably argue that they're hurting his development by playing him behind it. Now the Chargers are in a position to build as much talent as possible in the three-year window of his rookie contract. It's the best possible place a team can be in. You have to see if you can get there.

If our team was trash I would agree to sit him . But the Panthers are built for a franchise QB to come in and grow with the team. We have the weapons and the defense to give him a cushion with the learning curve. I wouldn’t be opposed to them coming in as a day 1 starter or a few games into the season.

Preferably start him out sitting. When he's good and ready, play him.

I agree. Once they start feeling comfortable with the NFL speed and playbook go ahead and let them start. Unless Teddy is playing solid and we are in the playoff race which I don’t see happening...
