Our QB situation? Could be worse, I suppose...

Deadspin posted this slideshow yesterday of where they feel each team ranks according to their QB situation.

No surprise that the Chiefs, Bills, Cards are ranked high. Green Bay and Seattle in the top ten? Pretty solid opinions there.

But let's go to the bottom of the list, shall we?

28. Jaguars
29. Broncos
30. New England
31. Jets
32. Washington

Carolina came in at #22. Not in the top half of the list, but in some ways that's not totally unexpected, considering last March we didn't think we'd be competitive in as many games as we ended up being. Deadspin's take on Teddy is:

Quote

The Panthers thought they were solving the position with Teddy Bridgewater, but that just ain’t it. He’s been mediocre at best, accounting for only 15 passing touchdowns to go with his 9 interceptions. The Panthers aren’t winning - they missed the playoffs, and head coach Matt Rhule has been clear that they will evaluate everything this offseason. That, however, is easier said than done when Teddy B will cost them $20 million in dead cap if they were to move on this offseason. It looks like he’ll be back, and that’s not a good thing.

Compare that take to Deadspin's opinion on who our other option was last March, with this about the Patriots:

Quote

They tried the Cam Newton experiment, and that’s been terrible. They have Jarrett Stidham, but apparently they don’t even want to get him on the field to see what they have. I don’t think they have any idea what they’re going to do at quarterback next year, and neither do I. Draft, maybe?

I don't know the answer to this:  leaving the salary cap/contract situation out of the discussion, since we definitely had to do something money-wise to help our future....   how would we feel about the Panthers if we had kept Cam and he had the exact same performance playing for us in 2020 as he had in NE?

Honestly I would rather not have an answer next year vs the gun to our head to play any more games with Teddy. The only way we are at a positive is if Teddy is a great mentor to a rookie. Otherwise we have a way too expensive backup.
