Let's talk about Darnold

Love this idea

Again dude is

- young (same age as Kyler Murray)

- Cheap, 2 years left on his rookie deal

- coming from a cancerous situation where there are multiple examples (including our Robby Anderson) of guys thriving outside that Gase regime.

The kid has tools and has shown flashes.  And to be honest.

All the same people who are pointing out "flaws" with him are the exact same one's who criticized Justin Herbert, pointing out flaws, saying he wasnt good.

Id love to trade our 3rd and say a later like 6th rd pick for him.

If he were released and just out there on the free agent market with a low, low price tag, sure.

Actually trade for him? Would you buy a relatively new car that had been driven around wildly by someone who wasn't just a bad driver, but who had apparently driven it with the intention of damaging it to the point that someone was going to have to buy them a new one? Would you pay full market value for it?

He might make a good reclamation project, but I'm just not sure he's worth what the Kelly Blue Book says right now, if you catch the metaphor.

Apples to oranges comparison. I could make the argument that the Titans did it with Tannehill, and after getting out of his gastly situation with Gase, Tannehill has played like a very very good Qb.

You make a good point. However, Miami wanted to move on and were willing to deal. Have the Jets made any such pronouncements? If so, I'd imagine Belichick would be calling --- he would be happy to seize a good candidate away from a division rival.

Somebody will trade for him. If an nfl team traded for Rosen, no way Darnold goes long enough to get released. Redskins, colts, patriots... Someone will trade for him.

Well it makes no sense for the Panthers to trade and assume his guaranteed contract terms. Let someone else take that chance.

He is on the back end of a rookie deal, there is almost no contract to worry about.

They haven't yet, but if they take a qb, I bet Belichick will be the first on the line.

If we are looking at Haskins then I guarantee we've at least had a discussion about Darnold.

Apples and Oranges.  Darnold requires a trade and would probably be the answer to our 2021 QB search.  Haskins would be about kicking tires for free to see if we are interested in giving him a shot to make the roster as the #3.

But your point is valid for this reason:  Nobody here wants either, I assume,  but to speculate about options is the appropriate because  we should hope the front office is doing the same.
