Let’s just be thankful no one bit when Gettleman was dumb enough to try and trade up to #2 to draft Fournette or that draft would’ve been trash.

I've heard that Rivera and most of the staff wanted Fournette at all costs, but the guy pounding the table for CMC was actually Mike Shula

Chiming in to say 2007 was a good draft: Jon Beason, Ryan Kalil, Charles Johnson... pretty damn good.

The key here is to string a few good drafts together--so 2017, 2020 (I think in 3 years, we will say it is was a great draft), and then if we can get a good one in 2021, I think you can go ahead and purchase playoff tickets for a few years.

With Marty, every draft featured a reach. Hall was the reach that year--we needed a DE and he was left. Playing opposite Garrett, he was given more opportunities and faced lesser blocking.  Greg Little was the same way--we took what was left over, and he sucked.

2001 was probably about compatible. Jenkins, Smith, Copper and Morgan were all skill players that were Pro Bowl quality.

The combine isn't a crystal ball but it didn't lie this time (so far). That should have been a red flag. Seriously needs a meanstreak and some technique work, or just the latter atleast.

Pick probably should have been Dawkins.
