What would do this offseason?

-Trade up for Fields or Wilson?  This will likely cost you this years 2nd and next years 2nd minimum.  With other teams needing QBs, you may be looking at giving up next years 1st plus some.  Our team isnt a QB away yet.  We are Taylor Moton walking from having to replace our entire OL (you know the guys who block for that QB and high priced RB), we also need a #1 and #2 CB, a TE, another DT, etc.  So trading up means not filling those holes this year and possibly next year in the draft.

- Running it back with Teddy.  Sticking with Teddy and no other option besides what we have.  Then going bpa in the draft, allowing to fill other holes.  This team will be improved but looking at another 8 win ceiling next year.  we could fill a good portion of the other holes, but there will be some glaring holes on the roster STILL outside of the QB.  Drafting around 10-12 next year.  If we want to go this route.  We will still need to trade a bunch of draft capital to move up for that QB.  This again means ignoring some holes.

-stay put and take Trey Lance.  Lance seems to be the forgotten man now.  But he has the upside.  But is Really raw and by far the riskiest move at QB.  He may need to sit atleast 2 seasons.

- Sam Darnold.   People forget how hyped this kid was coming out.  Some people thought he shouldve been the #1 pick coming out and thought the Browns were crazy taking Mayfield.  Big, Athletic, strong armed kid who is just 23 (same age as Kyler Murray and younger than Joe Burrow).  Darnold also has 2 years left on his rookie deal once the 5th year option is picked up.  We have seen many players who have left the dumpster fire Adam Gase regime who thrived elsewhere  (including our own Robby Anderson).  Darnold leaving that place and now playing under Rhule (guy who is a builder and builds confidence) and Joe Brady.  This may be a win.  Darnold is only going to cost you a 3rd and a late rounder tops.

Unlike a lot of madden fans on this board, I think we will have a high pick next year as well. Because although TB sucks, you simply cannot replace and entire oline in a year and stick a rookie QB behind it and expect wins. In fact, while the future will be brighter, the short term could, realistically be worse than what it was this year with TB. Not to mention no LBs or DBs besides mediocre to occasionally above average Shaq.

This is part of the building process of coming in to a poo team with the most dead money. It is going to take time.

So stay put, take a QB if you believe he is the guy. If not continue to build. Either with a rookie QB or TB we will still have a high pick next year. That probably makes people made Rhule couldn’t get wins out of the most dead cap and a team averaging 7 wins four years before he got here but that’s actually how building a team outside of madden works.

Yeah but at least with a rookie QB we are not stuck paying him at least 20 million a year.  Having a solid starting QB on his rookie deal is the biggest boon in the NFL.

This. Ask Burrow for further clarification.

I am not a gamer, but I think like one!  I agree--but you give me some new reasons.  First of all, Lance has more upside that the other 2, in my opinion. And not only do you put the pieces in place on an offensive line, they need time to develop chemistry.

I do not think the QB shopping will be as good next year, so I would add taking Trask or Mac later in round 1.  About the OL--do what you have to do to re-sign Moton---top priority.  Then re-sign Miller (about $3-4m),  add a veteran LG and draft a rookie LT to compete with Scott and Daley.

As much as I love Sam Howell and would love nothing more to see him drafted by the Panthers in '22, that's a long shot. This overall QB class is much stronger than next year's. I think we almost have to make a move on a QB this year. Be aggressive. Target a guy and go get him. Don't sit and hope and pray he falls.
