Good job Panthers. Way to F up your draft stock on a meaningless game that does absolutely fnging nothing for your season.

The only people complaining about today’s win are the people sitting behind their keyboards slapping the keys like attention starved preteens.

I saw a team that was very happy to win and played hard to make sure they could, just like they have tried to win every game this season. This whole idea that winning is losing is just a construct of people who don’t care that these players are playing on the big stage and this is their chance to shine. Not next season, not in 3 seasons when the rebuild is complete. Now.

I was cheering them on as hard today as I was game 1 and a win did nothing but get under the skin of people who want to be right on the Internet.

Go panthers.

The year is 2028 and you just watched Zach Wilson win his second Superbowl with the Atlanta Falcons. With the retirement of Brees and Brady after his rookie year, (and another pathetic team just merely existing in the division), Wilson and the Falcons dominated the NFC South during the early 2020s, with their first championship coming in an upset against Patrick Mahommes and the KC Chiefs.

You sigh and log onto the Carolina Huddle, the Panthers are picking in the middle yet again. You see a thread about a mock draft, this one is interesting because instead of drafting a linebacker, this one has the Panthers drafting a running back. "fug yeah!" posts one moron, "build through the trenches, bring back tried and true smash mouth football, and #trusttheprocess". You look at the mock draft and indeed, this one has us taking Jerome Mcdonald, a runningback from the University of Miami. At the top of the draft, sits the New Orleans Saints, who have all but locked up Arch Manning, the nephew of Peyton who had a dominating college career.

At the end, the Panthers, with Marty Hurney on his 4th stint, took Jerome Mcdonald, and the Panthers trophy case remains empty.

Oof. This is just too accurate.

I hate tanking so I’m glad we won. Besides, Lance or Parsons will be there and there’s always a chance someone else slips. I still think 7 or 8 is in play.

Drafting another off the ball LB in the top 10 would be the opposite of a consolation prize. Is there not a fullback or blocking TE available?

Once you are out of the playoffs and already one of the worst teams, priority should switch to maximizing your draft stock.

Esp if you are a new coach with a long term deal and the owner signs off on it.

You don't forfiet games, but you play your backup QBs and make dumb play calls to help you lose.

Yeah... Cause people like to get fired, coaches AND players....

Yeah, cause Rhule was even close to being on a hot seat. There was 0 worry of a coaching change if we go 4-12. Washington was just awful so it didn’t matter anyway. It was like the shutout of Detroit. We couldn’t have lost that game.

if you build a loser mentality you're always going to be a loser. I always want a panther win fug the whiners.

We are now 3-23 at the end of the last 3 years. This win did nothing to change the mentality. The coaching staff sets to culture, if they can’t do that and need moral victories then they get fired. Rhule has these guys playing hard but there’s no magic to today’s win that means our 2021 is now going to be better. I’d argue our future will be impacted more by dropping to pick 9 than winning today. It’s absolutely possible we could miss out on the QB we like kind of like we missed out on Herbert last year. They’ll never say it out loud but there will likely be at least 2 QBs we could have had that we won’t without trading up and losing our 2022 first.
